Quickhaven 4/27 to 4/28 activity

4/27

19:30 - R is playing somewhere in village.  Long slog here to make TNT ... sent turtle out to mine another sand hill, ran sandstone in pulverizer for niter, running charcoal dust + 2 niter + sulfur in Fabricator.  11 gunpowder so far, think I need 20.  Ran down and grab 64 cans of lava from tank while waiting - 243 cans left in there, more starts pouring back in from pipes.  15 gunpowder.  21 gunpowder, change recipe to TNT, throw my gunpowder & sand in chest and POOF, 4 TNT.  Grab 4 obsidian, make my diamond shards - didn't need the craftpacket maker, the regular autocrafting table can spit out the craftpacker, that goes in the stamper: 18 diamond shards come out.  Grinder ready (lot of work!), just plopped it on top of the Battery, hooked up the Factorization producer and yes it all works.  Great code.  Fun to click on the Energy link and see the energy in and energy out values.  Wow.

Anyway, we will soon have gobs of coal, since I had over 2 stacks of coal ore I silk touched, and the grinder gives 350% return.  100 coal so far.  My 6 diamond ore -> 14 diamonds.

Need 6 more clay blocks and a bunch of lead to make a heater for either the crystallizer or slag furnace.  Turns out to be a really small room up here.  not room for the whole factorization setup, especially keeping the mixer fed with water pipes ... maybe the mixer can be the thirs floor project.  20:20 - made 3 coils, now out of lead.  Smelt 32 lead.  Strike the 4 xychorium soil to be taken to nether (to grow food there!).  20:37 - furnace heater done, slag furnace done (funny I had exactly 22 cobble on hand, and that's what it takes).  Only real benefit of slag furnace is each Pb or Ag ore puts out roughly 1 of each Pb/Ag ingots, so if you're out of either metal you can run the other through here.

[Watch Monk - the Willie Nelson episode, and relist 80 eBay lots via Turbo Lister during commercials.]

Grinder still churning out coal, started a new barrel for it.  Ran out to check my turtle who was mining the coastal sand hill.  God haul of sand & sandstone.  But when I broke it, it hit a sharp quartz (I guess) and I lost it.  So ... make a few autocrafting tables for Center Lab, put a few computercraft recipes in there, computer and turtle at least.  Made new mining turtle.  MFSU at 7M.  Restock the thermal gen with 50 lava cans.  Low on iron, throw 50 pyrite dust in IndElectro.

Need to start jamming out electronic circuits for casings for the industrial Blast Furnace.  ugh.  34 casings needed, 2 circuits per 4 casings, and 8 of those casings should be reinforced (advanced circuits).  Okay, middle row of El + RI + El will give x2 circuits.  In ore lab, make 24 electrum ingots, 8 refined iron, back in IC2 lab make a heap of ins Cu wire.  Really need to automate some of this.  For some reason r-clicking in Automated Crafting Table no longer outputs all but one product, but one at a time.  Bleah.  Move a Fabricator and a chest in there - setup recipe, fill chest, get stuff.  Okay, Fabricator doesn't work if chest is on top of it, guess that interferes with the little icons rendering.

22:56 - the El/RI recipe in Fabricator/chest gave 22 electronic circuits in no time.  Running low on iron and tin, can only imagine how much I've used building all these machines so far!  Need to go mining soon.  Casings can use Machine Blocks (8 RI) {IC2}, or Sturdy frames (8 bronze) {Forestry} or Machine Frame (Au, 4 Fe, 4 Gl) {thermal expansion}.  Kinda low on copper too.  Make 2 machine frames ... 8 standard machine casings done.

23:52 - fairly slim pickin down in Twilight Forest mine (with turtle), but I did drop off the MFE for future power station.  Ores: 2 Pb, 7 Nk, 6 Au, 3 Em, 32 Al, 11 Ag, 11 coal, 26 Fe, 1 U, 1 W, 4 Cin, 52 Red, 3 Monazit; also 6 ironwood, 1 U, 4 Emeralds.  No copper or tin though!!  Pulv the 7 Nk, got 3 bonus diamond dust.  Run 6 Au with rich slag for 18 Au ingots.  Make 4 machine frames.  MFSU still around 7.1M, 46 lava cans in the generator.  Guess it can just about match my heavy power usage at 32EU/t.  Need to get the semifluid gens stocked up again.

Okay, Industrial Blast Furnace is a bit of a beast, target heat capacity 1700 (smelt everything except tungsten) 25 standard casings + 9 reinforced casings + 2 lava; then the Furnace block itself needs 4 cupronickel heating coils, 2 induction furnaces, an advanced machine block & 2 elec circuits.  Ouch.  All this work just to smelt silicon plate for (the weakest) solar cells and titanium for my favorite power tools.  Oh well, at least we won't run out of stuff to build around here!  Okay, I have 24 std casings now, need one more but of course they can only be made in batches of 4.  Refine 14 more iron, make 4 more.  Now, those pesky reinforced casings: each batch of 4 needs an adv machine block, 2 adv circuits, 6 steel; check my steel supply while iron is cooking ... need 18, got 30 (put a fresh heap of coal in coke oven, run back to IC2 lab).  Of course I need electrum to get a good yield of adv circuits, AND i'm almost out of glowstone.  Scrounged up 16 electrum, last 8 glowstone.  Okay found 10 more in personal safe, but I should have used 16 to make an Altar of Light to produce more glowstone topside.

00:31 - made 8 advanced circuits.  Grinding some coal for carbon plates.  Now for those two induction furnaces.  Electric furnace is simple: iron furnace, circuit, 2 RS.  But of course I'm out of iron again.  Diversion, run across desert, snag that last little puddle of oil - bring 24 cans back, fill generators.  MFSU at 8M.

00:51 - two electric furnaces done, need to upgrade them to induction furnaces.  Make 24 electrum ingots.  Run to deep tank, bring up 2 buckets & 60 cans of lava, pipes just start filling it up again.

01:02 - 10 new elec circuits, 9 carbon plate, 3 advanced machine blocks.  01:14 - macerate 4 ferrous ore for 8 nickel dust, cook it, make 6 cupronickel heating coils (darn needs rolling machine).  Run 30 redstone in IndCent for some more pyrite for free iron (at 110k per 10 it ain't free but I need it anyway).  Then put my mixed metal recipe back on rolling machine: invar over bronze over zinc = 4 MM ingots.

01:27 - 12 reinforced machine casings.  Now I just need the Ind Blast Furnace block itself.  Should have that done tomorrow!  Though I don't think I'll be able to place the lava in the machine core, due to griefer protection??  That would suck.  Lightning & thunder outside.  Heard an explosion, not sure what that was, probably a creeper.

02:11 - Nether run.  Grabbed the first 30 lava cans from big tank, trouble is when we're not there it's not pumping!  Trying to find glowstone, none in sight, none on radar or big map.  Finally saw a chunk off in distance, almost made it all the way up there.  I heard lots of mobs on surface right above me, pickaxe was worn out, so I dug a little safe room, calling it Base 3, made link book back home.  Will continue there tomorrow.

###

4/28 - after lunch

14:46 - quick wood run, chop one big tree for 24 logs, end up in my old house at village.  Enchant a new emerald pickaxe: 27 levels: fortune II, Unbreaking III, Efficiency IV.  Good one.  Run down under my old house to test it out.  use basic iron pick for basic digging, use enchanted ones for mining the good stuff.  Quick mining run, found 11 Fe ore, heaps of Nik ore (pulv gave 4 diamond dust bonus); smelt 38 Zn dust.  IC2 lab - the redstone in IndCent gave9 HgCell + 3 SiCell + 3 ruby dust + 15 pyrite dust (run pyrite in IndElectro for 5 Fe: + 10 S:).  Whoa, missing chunk riht thru the middle of my lab, disconnect, reconnect.  Drop 30 more redstone into IndCent.  MFSU at 8.3M, add another 30 cans of lava.

15:44 - nether trip to Base 3, build up a little tower by the lava falls, dig up thru hill to Glowstone blocks overhead.  Harvest 17 blocks with no incident.  Run home, make 4 redstone lamps (4 redstone aound a glowstone block).  Go to make an Altar of Light but what I thought were emeralds turned out to be green sapphires!  So I have no official emeralds to build this thing with.  And all villagers around here have been wiped out.  Was sure I had emerald ore in ore lab, it's all green sapphire too.  Hmm.  Will trade Rutt 3 emeralds for a stack of nikolite, if he has any.  Nope.  All green sapphire.  Darn.  break time.

20:00 - Still can't think of an answer to the emerald thing, that could take longer to track down than the darn glowstone.  Oh well, stash it for now.  Quick Nether trips: to Base Camp to plant some melons on the xy soil, then to Base 3 to drop off a load of stone and stone bricks for expansion.  Slowed to near nothing, out of memory error.  Reload & take a walk.  Was only using 680M of memory, guess that's all there is to spare.

Later session: 10pm - walk to end of tunnel at Rutt's village #1 (where he killed all the villagers).  Waypoint says the village after that is 530m away.  Tunnel about halfway, end up in Extreme Jungle bioma, dig up & com out under a tree, make a tiny gated safehouse.  Wait for daylight, run down hill, across river to village 240m away.  yup, it was right where he said it was (which is not as common as you'd think).  I will wall it off, try to corral the villagers in their houses and swap their doors for gates to keep them safe.  Will call this town "Auckland" (so many sheep around) create a linkbook, add to my linkbook hub in Twilight eventually.

23:10 - okay, accomplished most of those objectives.  Walled off the town except for one or two dropoffs I can't reach easily.  Replaced 4 doors with fences to keep those guys indoors.  Fought zombies for 3 nights.  Got 4 emeralds from trading.  From tunneling and exploring, came home with: 68 clay balls, 125 marble; ores: 20 bauxite, 4 cinnabar, 8 Sn, 52 Cu, 17 Fe, 1 U, 75 coal.  Copper does seem fairly common near the surface, rare down in the depths.  Grabbed some flowers (9 yellow, 6 red, 9 indigo).  Trip home was a 8-minute tunnel run.  Pulv 27 Cu (1 bonus gold), make 3 Altars of Light (woo hoo!), pulv the 17 Fe (no bonus).

23:36 - Install the Altars of Light on 2nd floor balcony of Wiz Tower, right click each 3 times with redstone and there's a slight sizzle and it lights up.  One of them already made a glowstone block.  Huh, as I was typing this, the 2nd altar gave me a glowstone block.  I still have a few hp left on my silk touch pick.  Anyway, the wiki says it gives a block evry 3-4 game days.  So far it has been under 10 minutes each.  Thanks Xeno, a handy little item.  Even it is a bit slow, it sure beats going on hallraising Nether expeditions to get glowstone!

23:57 - write some notes, then Altar #1 & 2 each have a glowstone block for me.  I'd say it takes about 10-15 minutes.  Run by tunnel to IC2 lab, put 16 glow dust in chests.  MFSU at 8.3M, drop in last 32 lava cans from fuel chest.  Now where was I in the whole blast furnace process?  Okay, upgrade 2 electric furnaces to induction furnaces, I was out of iron & copper ... make 2 Adv Machine Blocks, 7 copper each, and done.  Used my last 4 carbon plate, macerate another 32 coal for next time.  Thought that would be all the parts (already have the heating coils) BUT need ONE more Adv Machine Block.

00:09 - DONE.  Finally get to setup this crazy contraption!  okay, go over to roof of liquids lab.  Add LV transformer from gold powerline to dedicated MFE.  Start building the Industrial Blast Furnace, bottom 9 are reinforced casings, rest are standard, hope I'm allowed to drop some lava in there.  Okay, another big hurdle, I was able to place lava inside the 3x3x4 framework.  Stick the actual Industrial Blast Furnace block on front, it comes up saying "Heat Capacity 1700K", exactly what I was shooting for.  Now hook it up to the MFE ... cross fingers.  Runs as advertised: 2 silicon cells -> 1 silicon plate ... now I can make solar panels!  Smelt titanium, now I can make my rock cutter and mining laser.  2 galena dust -> Pb + Ag ingots.  Only 14 recipes total, really just a huge stumbling block.

01:32 - Rutt dropped in, took me to Twilight Forest to show me some things.  We geared up to kill a lich, but I lagged out, got killed, ended up in swamp 500m away (because we didn't think to make beds and sleep first).  Lagged so bad, I could hardly go in a straight line.  Had to run thru mangrove forest, attacked by bugs.  Found village again, grabbed what little gear I could, ran back to pick up dropped items.  Lich was right on ground floor waiting to attack, fireballs kaboom, back in the swamp.  Barely 1-2 fps at any point.  Then Rutt died and ended up in swamp, total bust.  We gave up on that (lost full sets of armor and more).  he showed me some weird pit about 5x5 straight down with some kind of castle inside.  Like a nut he just ran down there.  I said we were unprepared, lost all our gear and all.  A moment later, explosions.  Rutt killed by such-and-such.  Oh well, whole trip was a rout, though I now have a bed in my house down there, and setup the linkbook to the distant village before running off to get killed.

Topside, Ran stuff thru Ind Blast Furnace.  Fun.  Run 32 clay in IndElec for 4 Li[] + 8 Na[] + 8 Si[] + 8 Al:, actually one of the fastest (10sec) and cheapest (10kEU) recipes on that machine.  Oh yeah, came up with neat chemical formula notation ("MineChem") for writing out recipes.  [] means cell, : means dust, and so on.  MFSU at 7M.  Run down for 47 more lava cans while waiting.  Run the sodium as fuel, save the Li cells for lithium batpack.  Whee, got my Rock Cutter (silk touch toy).  Load 28 Al: into indBlast, Call it a night.

4/28 after trip to beach - tried helping Faucher with his mushroom castle, brought some supplies, very laggy.  Tried to make a warpbook back to Twilight from distant village but brought wrong book, had to hike the 1500m back home.  There is an oil gusher just outside of that town.  I captured some of it in empty cans, will pump the rest into a tank on future trip.  Run back so laggy: run 3 blocks, freeze for 2 seconds, gave up.  Fresh restart, just me now, made it back to Quickhaven, working on lithium cells now.  Used minium stone to convert 64 gravel to clay balls, just 16 clay dust, run in IndElectro.  that's the only source of lithium I know of.  Now I'm out of tin for empty cells.

First trip with new rock cutter, harvest 2 glowstone blocks, 13 coal ore.  Working on lithium batpack, 2 Li batteries out of 6 done.  Tried minium stone in hand, will only change a few world blocks: sand to dirt, dirt to cobble, cobble to grassy dirt (ugh, I was hoping for cobble to stone, I could have revamped my old cobble buildings in a hurry).  Really was hoping for gravel to clay!!

Haha, I heard a slime bouncing around somewhere, was crafting, heard something climbing the ladder behind me, turned around and smack!  Slime went down.  Comedy break.

IC2 lab, use minium stone on 2x64 gravel for 32 clayballs for 8 clay blocks, 8 clay dust, into IndElectro.  Macerator needs an overclock upgrade or two, but the recipe is now 3 10k coolant cells over ICW + EC + ICW.  Okay, 10k coolant cell is just a water cell surrounded by 4 tin ingots, but I'm outta tin.  Run marble dust in IndCent for some Mg dust and Calcite dust.  4th Li battery done.  Need 3 more Li cells ... out of clay, scrounge up gravel, I usually leave gobs of that behind in chests while mining anyway.  MFE at 6.8M.  Sodium cells burn in semifluid gens, silicon cells go to IndBlast for silicon plate.  5th Li battery done.  Run down to lava tank, grab 59 cans, lava is STILL flowing into it!  Check some side tunnels: mine 2x64 gravel, come on up, convert to clay, macerate, into IndElectro.  Lithium batpack done, recharge, ready for some serious mining now!

[Break for Bing Bang Theory & Scrabble games]  22:00 - MFSU at 6.6M after charging the lithium batpack.  Have to say I feel like a real miner finally.  My silk touch ruby pick was down to like 5% hp.  Anyway, I love/hate GregTech for making it so difficult.  But yes, it does prolong the game play in a well balanced way.  Used to be hop onto a new map with IC2 and have gobs of solar panels up within about 3 hours.  This took 3 weeks.  Okay, that may be a bit much!  But getting to the advanced solar, yikes.  The amount of materials is astounding.  I bet I've gone through over 600 Fe, Cu, Sn by now.  Made one overclocker for macerator, very low on tin again.  Mining trip!

Ugh, sure lost a lot of stuff on that failed lich raid last night, all due to impatience.  Should have left all my spare armor in chest by bed, and slept in the bed, so we could get back to battle quickly.  What a rout.  Lost about 2 full sets of armor, diamond helmet, two best swords, about 60 iron.  Oh well start over, iron armor (except for the chestplate which is my batpack right now).  Get down & diggin.

22:30 - digging at level 44 w mining turtle & rock cutter.  ores: 2 W, 2 U, 5 grn sapphire, 33 Fe (pulv gives 2 bonus Ferrous dust), 2 Monazit, 11 Sn (pulv = 2 bonus Fe), 17 Cu (pulv = 2 bonus Au), 17 coal (in grinder = 610coal), 5 cinnabar, 22 Al.  Plus 7 quartz, 15 quartz dust, 2 amber, lots of xy gems and xy ore.  22:50 - 2nd expedition, same tunnels (had 2 creepers in my tunnel on one trip), ores: 3 grn sapphire, 6 Cu (pulv bonus 3 Au), 7 Fe, 1 ruby, 14 coal (grinder -> 51 coal), 2 cinnabar, 12 Sn, 8 Al.

23:03 - ore processing, run to wiz tower for 3 more glowstone blocks; MFSU 7.5M, drop off 20 cans of creosote (stack limit 16??) and 19 cans of lava.  I now have 21 silicon plate, and a good stock of Fe, Sn, Cu.  Gee what should I build now?  Solar panels!!

23:30 - quick break.  Okay.  2 RE batteries, put on my generator autocrafting table, add 6 RI, 2 iron furnaces, pop out 3 generators, 2 new autocrafting tables.  In background run 12 mixed metal (compress to adv alloy), macerate 32 coal for carbon plate.  Layout solar panel recipe on one table, make two of them.  Head to roof and install em.  MFSU at 7.6M.   Well, looking at the Advanced Solar Panel recipe, oh boy that has been ramped up to near-impossible.  Let's see 9 RI around an Ir ingot = iridiumIron plate (IrIP), that plus 4 adv alloy & 4 carbon plate = reinforced irIP, that plus 4 RS, 2 Lap, a diamond and a sunnarium part (2 UU + glow dust) = irradiant reinforced plate (irrPl), finally 3 irradiant glass / AA + solar + AA / AC + irrPl + AC = ONE advanced solar panel!!.  (Irradiant glass is 6 reinforced glass with 2 irradiant uranium and a glow dust in middle ... where irradiant Uranium is a refined Uranium surrounded by 4 glow dust.)  Holy smokes that's a tall order.

Sent mining turtle out into sand hills to get more sand.  Huh, MFSU is stuck at 7654642 even in daytime with two solars attached?  Run out, turtle got about 8 stacks of sand, some sandstone etc.  Build a 2nd Grinder for factorization lab (might as well since the leftover diamond shards are good for nothing else), now I can churn through double the coal, need to work on this stockpile since I have about 4 stacks of coal ore piled up.  Run 32 coal to coke oven, 31 coal coke done, stash it for now, put 20 iron in blast furnace, take 20 creosote to MFSU.

00:32 - start planning the conversion of the liquids lab from electrical engine to energy link.  Got an unused stirling engine & 12 energy conduits, need a MV transformer.  00:47 - done, up & runnning.  Pretty simple really.  the magma crucibles are real energy hogs, they take 32 MJ/t which translates to 78 EU/t.  But boy do they jam through their tasks when kept at full charge all the time!  About 1.5 seconds to melt a redstone, maybe 5 seconds per netherrack.  For the igneous extruder, the limiting factor is now how slowly the aqueous accumulator pulls in water -- about 5 second to pull in one bucket, then zing - output is done in about 2 seconds.  Okay each block of stone takes 2mB and there is 4,000 in the lava tank, so if I leave it running I can get 2,000 stone blocks.  Reset it back to obsidian!  Currently 64+22 obsidian in the chest, and 6 stacks of stone.  huh, igneous extruder does not appear to use energy, I guess that's why the energy conduits wouldn't attach to it.  2975 mB of molten redstone, 252 mB of lava expected to become 126 stone.  Ore lab: Pulv 32 obsidian.  Upstairs, grinder ground to a halt with 62+63 coal.  Out of lead.  Pulv 16 galena (7 bonus S), drop the dust in IndBlast, about 1.5 seconds each: 16 Pb, 16 Ag.  Pulv the lead, make 32 hardened glass, store for future resdtone energy cells, tesseracts, etc.  18+23 coal ready in grinders; add 14 more ore each.

01:01 - On to the next project!  Mining laser.  Mwa ha haa.  Need 2 Ti.  Check my notes, looks like bauxite in IndElect is the only real source, and that take 12 Bx: and 8 empty cells only make 2 tiny piles of Ti: (yes it also gives 8 Al: and 5 H Cells, but titanium is hard to come by).  Harvested the Altars of Light a few times tonight, got about 20 glowstone blocks stashed away.  Altar #3 only made a block once, the others gave a block every 10 mintues or so.  So I broke Altar #3 and placed it again.  Call it a night.
