10/18 FTB Unleased - get thee to a smeltery

Short visit.  I made a smeltery.  Gravel + sand + clay balls = grout, smelt grout for seared bricks.  4 seared bricks for a seared block.  Smeltery is 3x3 base of seared blocks with higher layers in a 5x5 outline (corners optional).  I built mine up 2 layers.  You have to include a seared tank, right click it to add lava to heat up the thing, and a smeltery controller you r-click to get the smelting interface.  Then a smeltery drain with smeltery faucet over a casting table to cast objects or over a casting basin to cast metal blocks.

Funny, with the first batch of seared bricks you get a new book of instructions.  Once that was all figured out, I made a regular shovel head pattern on pattern table, then a stone shovel head on tool table.  Then put Al + Cu in smeltery for aluminum brass. Put each object on casting table, r-click the faucet and the brass pours out and make a brass cast of your stone (or whatever) object.  Then, to make metal objects, put your brass cast on the casting table and pour out any metal you want.  I made a cactus shovel for laughs, then a serious all-alumite pick with silky jewel (for Silk Touch power) and moss (for auto-repair power).

Neat system.  Put blank pattern on stencil table, make sword head pattern; put pattern + stone on part builder for a stone sword blade (pattern is reusable); put this stone item on casting table, pour aluminum brass for a metal sword blade cast (reusable) you can pour metals into to make sword blades.

Ran down to my good mine near Nether Portal.  Came out with ores: 20 diamond (!), 2 emerald, 44 coal, 10 redstone, 1 U, 1 cinnabar, 12 Au, 31 Fe.  Now that's a haul.  I was updating some item life cycle text files earlier in the day and saw that the pulverizer now makes 2 diamonds from one ore (it was nerfed to one diamond or two diamond dust in other modpacks); grinder still has the best output (225% diamonds) but such a pain to power them without PowerConverters mod.  Also 2 coal per ore (grinder still wins with 350%), 2 emeralds per ore, 8 redstone per ore.  Halfway thru pulverizing, my alumite pick is pretty much back to full repair.  Apparently you can put tools back on the tool station, pick the first icon (the anvil), and add more base materials to repair them manually, or add a chunk of moss (9 mossy cobblestone to make it) for auto-repair.  Fun mod after all.

I also walled off the top of the cliff where I put the ladder going up a few days ago, right above my new smeltery.  And I added stone steps going down the far-side cliff to the grassy plain below, where my road runs out to safehouse #1.  Should be a nice safe mesa fortress for future ethanol distillery.

Okay, 71 diamonds in my personal safe.  I wish real life was as secure as that!
