10/13 FTB Unleashed - new videos recorded

Well, I finished salvaging some of the videos I did over the summer.  The past few months have been a mess, had to move out to a new apartment, divorce in the works.  No need to bother you with the details.  The game is one of the few things that's reliably fun and weird, and while I'd like to have a server with friends cooperating on big projects, the other way to share is by making videos.  So I ran some sound checks and started a new series of Let's Play videos for my new Axum world.  One video was an odd experiment I was meaning to do: show how to whack the wisp spawner from one of those obsidian totem platforms -- I brought my mining turtle and we dismantled the whole thing and hauled it home, then I went down into the town chasm and made a Nether Portal.

Some new discoveries in the endless recipe vault:
[SQUEEZER] carrot, potato or pumpkin -> 0.1 veggie juice
Veggie juice can be used as an amplifier in Fermenter, to boost biomass output by 50%, same as for fruit juice or honey and now creosote.  I really need to start squeezing stuff, maybe a whole squeezer room: one for fruit juice, one for veggie juice, one for liquid force (in the force lab).  Way better than when there was just apple juice but I could never get more than 20 apples at a time.  Though someone needs a compat mod to squeeze all these Natura berries!!

Okay, just barely starting on Tinker's Construct.  The starter kit is super easy to make: 2 sticks + 2 planks = blank pattern.  Blank pattern over plank = stencil table; over chest = pattern chest; over log = part builder.  Done in my pocket crafter (clipboard) in about 30 seconds.  BUT I don't have a building to put it in!  Maybe I'll just have to tinker in that cave across the lake.  No, I'll expand the little chamber where I built the ladder up to the top of the cliff.  Plenty of room to expand under there.  As soon as I made an item from his mod, I got the book Materials and You, explaining all the goodies in Tinker's Construct.  That's also the mod where the Battlesign comes from, it's listed as a "Lethal Joke Weapon". Cute.

Wow there's a lot of info in that book.  Including fun new materials like:
Ball of moss (from 9 mossy cobble)
Lava crystal (4 blaze rods, 4 fire charge, bucket of lava)
Silky cloth (8 string around a gold nugget)
Silky jewel (4 silky cloth around emerald)
obsidian plate
graveyard soil (dirt + rotten flesh + bonemeal)
consecrated soil (cooked graveyard soil)

What a complex but tempting system of adding powers to weapons and tools.  FUnny that you can make things out of slime, paper, cactus and bone, some with surprisingly good properties (or why would they bother adding it).

Neat: forestry has added a lumbermill (but it's not mentioned in their wiki?) and a worktable that's a crafting table that's supposed to remember 8 recipes and has an internal inventory.  For now, I made 3 machine frames, then a sawmill ... but need a home for it ...

Night.
