10/16 More Hexxit videos
I composited a bunch of videos in the background today while working on other things. So Hexxit episode 6,7,8 are done as well as Quickhaven tour #1,2,3,4. What's funny is that I noticed at the end of Hexxit episode 8 that I never did clear out that Walker Castle.
I did the final video project files for Hexxit episode 9-12. Will render those batches tonight and tomorrow.
I went back into that Walker Castle and holy cow. I was expecting a big rectangular room with lots of mobs, but it was beautifully designed inside, with walls of iron fences, archways made out of stairs, even a central trading post setup with enchanting tables, vendor booths, you name it. Followed by secret rooms, even a throne room where I heard crazy amounts of arrow fire ... it turned out that a blue slime had spawned in another secret room and set off a massive arrow trap, so I busted through a was and dismantled it. Thinking I was done and had found the hidden treasure room, I went around a corner and a giant turtle mob boss came out of a pool of water, shooting bubbles at me. One bubble teleported me across the castle to yet another room I'd never seen before. Major battle to run back and take out the turtle. Crazy good level design here. This super-ornate interior town will be my new HQ, nothing else comes close to its design quality in the world (yet).
Then I did a quick recon of the wizard tower nearby. Fought some walkers, threw some off the walls, then got turned around and accidentally ran though the MIDDLE of the place and set off a dozen walker spawners. I just barely managed to whack a hole in a wall and seal myself inside. The metal boots came pounding after me. I turned, saw a raw stone wall and tried to tunnel to safety, but everywhere I went the metal boots cam after me -- at one point I could look up through a frozen lake and see them swarming above me. I finally had to face them through a one-block hole in a cave wall, and did take them out. Partly with a Water Wand that shot bubbles that seemed to carrying the guys away. Weird. Anywaym this mad "Escape from Alcatraz" episode may have turned out to be a good strategy. I bet I depopulated half the place and led them out to an ambush far from home. BUT there are two battle towers right there as well, and though I cleared the spawners from their bottom floors, I did release at least one blaze.
I ran back to my new Uber-Castle base, locked myself in one of the sleeping chambers, and called it a night. Wow.
10/21 ... the next set of videos are now live:
scottvee's "Let's Play Hexxit":
part 5a (Battle Tower Solved)
part 6 (tour of Traps and Ruins)
part 7 (creeper jockeys)
part 8 (Walker Castle)
