Quickhaven 6/1 to 6/2 - Assembling table woes
6/1
Quick visit after walk around Discovery Lake. Tried to get my "cheat sheet" notes in some presentable order earlier today but with the mods and modpacks constantly changing, it's a bear trying to keep up. Anything I post will be out of date a week or month down the road. Just comparing the 1000s of recipes in v1.1.1 to the 1000s of recipes I've already written down is a major battle. But the delay (70-90 seconds) asking NEI to give me the uses of items (or accidentally clicking the Recipe hot spot on the generic crafting table) has almost gotten me killed a few times. Oh well.
Railcraft lab, roof: Made an MFE, added my spare semifluid gen, hooked up waterproof pipes & engine from coke oven. Already had 53 cans of creosote so I won't have to pump anymore anytime soon, but it's set up and on the power grid. Just an extra little buffer. I wonder if the ore lab would pull from this MFE before calling for power from the main MV powerline that continues back to my AESU. Not sure how EU power code figures out what to do at the junctions. Threw a stack of cobble in the pulverizer and a half stack of copper ore in the induction smelter, sure enough this MFE's power level is now dropping (peaked at 130K, now at 79K). What a fascinating system. I suppose that if this drains to zero it will then pull from the main powerline, or maybe it divides the power requested by half at each junction? Anyway, I've been meaning to make this little backup power source for a while now, and there it is. Nice to finally clear out all those cans. MFE power level is going back up again, 56K and climbing, so I guess my batch of ore lab work is done. Last of the cans is emptied into the semifluid gen, so flip the switch and start pumping creosote. That should last a while ... not great output at 3K per unit and only 8 EU/t, but I have no other use for that gooey gunk when I'm not making railbeds (which I'm not sure I plan to make any more of); might as well make power when I'm walking around town. 17 coal coke done, drop in 47 more coal.
What's the actual power boost when making coal coke? Coal is good for 4K EU each, coal coke gets 16K, plus 0.5 creosote for a total of 17,500 EU. A gain of 13,500 EU per unit of coal put into the coke oven. Okay by me. It can also turn logs (750 EU) into charcoal (4000 EU) plus 0.25 creosote for a total gain of 4000 EU, but that's too little to bother with. MFE back up to 120K and rising. Take a break. Rutt's birthday gathering at the Macaroni Grill.
After 11pm. Prepare to setup an Aqueous Accumulator over a 2x2 water pool -> Igneous Extruder next to my stone to stone brick multi-automat. Make 3 machine frames, then AqAccum and IgnExtruder, set em up; note that both of these machines require NO power to run. Now I just need to drop some lava cans into the Extruder to get 500 blocks of stone each, all automatically entered into my automat chain. Yes, it eats the empty cans, oh well, endless stone products = okay. Oops, they were all going out a slabs because as soon as the 3rd stone hits the chest the slabs recipe got run, and the 4 stone -> stone brick recipe was never reached. So I turned off the autarchic gates until the chest fills up a bit. Minor snag. Now I kinda want double slabs instead of single-slabs, easier to work with when building, and twice as many can fit in the barrel. Added another autocrafting table, this one with redstone engine. Moved out 1838 slabs, double them up by hand, now 977 double stone slabs in the barrel. I need to make a big heap of autarchic gates; they're so much smoother than the clunky old engines all over the place, especially for the upcoming automaitions (and possibly a series of "machines at Work" videos) I have planned in my head.
00:12 - Okay, Assembly table, add 30 redstone, 13 iron; pull out 4 redstone chipsets to be made into gates first, then iron chipsets, then red. Grab 24 cans of biomass for my biogas engine power boost, assembly table receiving 15 MJ/t, speeding though this batch. 00:15 - 2 gates done. 00:23 - chip away at my ice cave, now 4 gates done, 7 iron chipsets, put my 4 gates back on table with 4 iron and 4 pulsating chipsets (need to make a new batch of those) ... 00:28 - 4 autarchic gates done, let the rest run for a bit from biogas power only, to avoid blowing out pipes. Put one aut-gate on my creosote pump (MFE at 311K, 41 coal coke done, add 29 more coal), one on my new double stone slab autocrafter (4x64+8 stone in chest, flip on, takes about 20 seconds to blast it all out through autocrafter chain, currently have 912 stone brick, 696 chiseled stone brick, 1092 double stone slabs). Back to assembly table, grab 32 ender pearls along the way, put 16 on the table to start a batch of pulsating chipsets. 4 more autarchic gates finished, in chest waiting for future use.
Uh oh, checking in NEI, it looks like GregTech has ditched many of the subtitutions he used to allow - pulsating chipsets do not appear as options in making ANY machine now. Used to be a valid susbtitute for an electronic circuit. While this does simplify things, it's also a bit annoying ... the only reason I made 2 diamond AND gates was to replace other electronics.
New path to Electronic Circuit (EC):
1. [ASSEMBLING] RI# + 2 El# + 40 sec -> BasicCircuitBoard
2. [ASSEMBLING] BasicCircuitBoard + 3 ICW + 80 sec -> EC
Half the wire, but at the cost of 2 electrum and the crazy 2-minute waiting time.
New path to Advanced Circuit (AC):
1. [ASSEMBLING] Si# + 4 El# + 80 sec -> 2 AdvCircuitBoard
or [ASSEMBLING] EC + 2 El# + 80 sec -> AdvCircuitBoard
2. [ASSEMBLING] Lap|Laz: + GD + 40 sec -> 2 adv circuit parts (ACP)
3. [ASSEMBLING] AdvCircuitBoard + 2 ACP + 80 sec -> Adv. Circuit (AC)
I like that these can be made entirely without making ECs first, and saves 1 Lap, 1 GD and 4 RS, but at the cost of 1/2 Si#, 2 electrum and 200 seconds each! And the name is annoying: Assembling Table, when there's already an Assembly Table everyone knows about.
The old path still works, basic IC2 recipes only:
6 ICW + 2 RS + RI -> EC
EC + 4 RS + 2 Lap|Laz: + 2 GD -> AC
Those were always enough of a bore, dumping all that wire in, then all the extra additives. I know, bitch bitch. I'm sure I could setup something to automate that mess, assuming the Assembling Table handles pipes in any reasonable way, but at the cost of 2 assemblers for ECs and 3 for ACs. Screw it, I'll just throw batches in when I get a chance and keep a few of each type of circuit board handy.
00:20 - 12 pulsating chipsets done. Another batch of marble dust gobbled up in the IndCent, got 56 calcite dust and 8 Mg dust. Make 12 CaCO3 cells, grab 12 Fe ore, dump em in the Industrial Blast Furnace in the rain, and (5 seconds each) get 36 refined iron and have my 12 empty cells returned; that's a good recipe - triple the ore and refine it in one step. AESU steady at 100 million. Done for the night.

After 10:30. I pasted most of my "life cycles" notes into a MySQL database today, will try to get that accessible soon, though it mostly just points out how impossible it is to have a really definitive set of recipes for an ever-changing accumulation of mods. Reading more recipes while running my assembly table on full power. Updated a bunch, now in my assembly table chest: chipsets (19 RS, 14 Fe, 48 pulsating), gates (2 iron OR, 6 autarchic, 3 autarchic diamond OR). A pretty good stash even if those did get removed as substitutes in so many recipes where they would have worked a week ago.
Factor lab: grind 20 gold ore = 42 gravel -> 52 chunks -> 64+ crystals. Mostly I came up her for some clay to make bricks, to make ice bricks for my ice cave lab. Might as well run some stuff while I'm here. Doh! Crystallizer has switched to using AquaRegia instead of H2SO4, now I have to make two of those, too. It's H2SO4 + Netherrack powder + fire charge (which I never had a reason to make before) ... no, not netherrack dust, but the powder made in the grinder. New recipe. 2 aqua regia done, gold put into crystallizer. Looks like the grinder recipes have all been boosted from 140% to 200%. BUT the later steps have been made less effective: Slag Furnace generally gives 125% instead of 140%, and crystallizer gives 120% instead of 140%. Probably not worth the wait on the final step for such minimal gain. I updated my recipes. We'll see how the numbers turn out.
Ran to village to see how Iceman is coming with his bees. Found 4 apiaries around one cactus, the one with 3 frames inside had produced 4 comb, the rest nothing; I bred a new generation. Looked around the woods quickly to see if he had any other hives, didn't see any. Saw a batch of weird new plants growing, turned out to be hennequen, which is nearly useless: leaf -> twine and 4 twine -> string, super low productivity. Made 64 ice bricks.
Multifarm was out of dirt, run 96 over there and add 10 coal coke for power. It made about 4 stacks of spruce wood, nothing else, so pull out the spruce saplings (64+58 of them), get different wood for a while since I have 21 stacks of spruce in the barrel. 63 blue fertilizer left.
00:55 - MF Farm: 11x64+11 wool, 2170 mB oil in generator, 37 beef, 40 leather, 2x64+29 ind.fertilizer. I came here for the fertilizer ... grab 64, see if it runs in the cropmatron. NO! What good is it?? Try some quick crossbreeding. NWart + NWart = NWart, NWart + Wheat = NWart. Reed + Reed = flowers??. Reed + NWart = NWart. Carrot + Potato = Carrot. Melon + Reed = Melon. Carrot + Melon = Melon. Cropmatron still has one full weed-b-gone, 64+17 fertilizer; batbox full at 40K.
01:13 - Railcraft lab roof: MFE at 315K and dropping (I'm smelting gold crystals in ore lab); 35 coal coke done, add 50 more coal; 16 steel done. 01:32 - ran stacks of saplings through Fermenter, ran 24 UU in background then switch mass fab to LV and left it running. Here's an odd change: Pulverizer is producing dusts now instead of pulverized metals!! Good luck keeping up with all this! Anyway, I pulverized 24 Fe ore and got 48 Fe dust and 5 Ni dust. Pulverized my 15 saltpeter ore, got 60 saltpeter and 1 bonus niter. Pulv 15 ruby ore (just tired and bored now, want to make every absurd dust I can) ... 30 ruby dust & 0 red garnet dust (boo), but heck I can go make some Chrome. Electrolyzer: 3 Cr, 6 Al.
Check a few more recipes. 64 more UU ready. Go read before bed.
