FTB Ampz world 6/21 - room to move
6/21
Added a big chunk to the ftbwiki about the fun MineChem mod. In game, started laying a cobble road to west, ran past one pit and right down into anotehr cave, all connected down below. I even caught a glimpse of a huge chamber way down there, with the waypoint "lava pits" and a furnace and crafting table in the distance. I recall that the UE mods started off with Platinum as their main techno metal, but now it's Osmium, which ain't easy to find. During my cave dive, I found: 55 Fe ore, 21 Cu ore (so much copper ore I ended up ignoring most of it), 13 Os ore, 40+ coal.
Time to build something. Made 4 Fe + 4 RS -> smelt into 8 EnrichedAlloy (EA). Now I need 8 Os (half my entire stash) + 2 EA for 2 Control Circuits (CC). Done (19:16). Now 16 coal around 4 iron for steel dust, cooked into 4 steel, those 4 steel around an osmium, for a steel casing. Argh, this modpack has no Buildcraft, so there's no way to pump or pipe or automate these machines. Cheat myself 2 buckets of lava and I've got my first Crusher (empty buckets were returned to inventory, thanks). Darn it, those crushers don't crush ore into 2 dusts (like a pulverizer or macerator), only ingots into dust, and saplings|veggies into biofuel. It's the Enrichment Chamber and Purification Chambers that split ores into 2 or 3 metal clumps. The same recipe with EA for RS and RS for Lava would have given me an Enrichment Chamber. Anyway, I took down my old Combiner and stashed it, can't think of any use for that one. Now I'm one Osmium short. Back to the pits!
Deep lava lakes were fringed by phantom blocks -- where the old old version of some mod used to spawn sulfur ore -- I broke each block, which acted like invisible snow cap, and kept mining. A pretty good haul: 2 diamonds, 30 lapis, 33 Cu, 15 Au, 21 Fe, 16 Os, about 30 redstone. For some reason I was wearing a glob of biofuel for a helmet! The ore selection is really a bit dull in this world. I don't need the insane 50+ ores from Metallurgy ... but wouldn't that go great with the MineChem mod!
Let's try this again ... 8 Os around 2 EA = 2 ControlCircuits, done (19:44). 4 Steel around Os = SteelCasing, done. All those plus 2 RS + 4 EA = Enrichment Chamber. Huh, I plugged in the Enrichment Chamber and it does nothing, won't process any ores. Says its power is at 0 J, but it's wired up to an energy cube with 2MJ stored up. The Voltz wiki says it's a Mekanism machine that takes redpower batteries, but it really should take UE if it's in this modpack. Okay, I made a handheld multimeter. Looks like the black-box face of the Storage Cube is the only outputs, all wires hooked up to green-lit faces produce no voltage. As soon as I moved my wires, the Chamber made 2 Os dust, Fe ore works, Cu ore works. Each cycle takes about 8 seconds. Machine internal storage is 20kJ.
Change of pace: I cheated myself some stone slabs and stone bricks and did a massive overhaul of my lab. It was a cramped little thing originally dug into a natural cleft between two small hills. Now it's an L-shaped 13x13 with 13x7 wing, I moved solar panels to roof (oops, they break with pickaxe), moved Energy Cube (it not only doesn't break with pickaxe, it retains all its stored energy!), shifted other machine around. Now I have room to move, and room to grow.
