FTB New World 6/26-27 - craters everywhere!

Running low of peat, so made a quick run for sand (got oil 16 oil sands, 59 clay in the same pond) and leveled some land outside of town for 2 stacks of dirt. Looks like 4 tin gives 16 empty cells in this modpack. Made 80 bog earth with lots of resources to spare. One peat bog harvest gives 55 peat, should be good for a while. Yikes, heard a whole series of explosions. Then there were space cats running around, which was cute. BUT, come on already!, 7 meteor impact just outside my walls? Destroyed part of my walls, my road, all my rubber trees, totally crapped up the area, turned a pond into an ugly mess. It's going to take about half an hour and 8 stacks of dirt to de-crap the landscape. I want these stupid meteors to stop already. Fine, I'll make more meteor shields, but I thought they had a range of 45, and these impacts started just 30 blocks from my shield. I shouldn't have to put special blocks every 60 meters just to stop the land from being destroyed. Yup, about half an hour and 8 stacks of dirt to repair that mess, it's like 2 dozen creepers going off for no reason. I'm sick of that mod. I managed to salvage 2 rubber tree saplings from the tiny scraps of my trees that were left standing.
Dammit, 3 more craters in the other direction, blasted through the lake of ice, trees along the shore all screwed up, another big mess to clean. Another 15 minutes wasted. Oh hey, two more craters in my ice lake - the oil geyser is screwed up, water dumping down into the pit looks awful. Frigging ridiculous. It did expose a few ores, and I had some fun mining sand out from under the ice lake while I was there, but this is really too destructive. Guess I'll make a grid of meteor shield every 60 blocks, on little pillars with torches. What a pain in the ass. Deployed 8 of them, then got a bunch of empty cans and cleared out that oil well that got hit by the meteor and made such an ugly mess - oil and water dumping together, enginge is all confused about which blocks are which liquid.

Quick run down into mega cave, many lava lakes down at the bottom. Came back with ores (11 Au, 2+10 Cu, 35 Fe, 2+5+9 Sn, 1 Adamantine, 3 Dp iron, 5 prometheum, 1 Zn, 2 ferrous, 8+13 Ag, 4 Pb), 8 NQuartz, 5 CQuartz, 7 S, 7 Potash, 3 U, 37 apatite, 53 redstone, 12 lapis. 39 coal coke done, put 29 coal into coke oven. Made 2 sturdy casings -> carpenter and squeezer. Plus peat and biogas engines. Then more bronze & 2 more sturdy casings, let's see what I need ... fermenter and still.
