Upon loading, it mentioned 3 missing block IDs (1 from Railcraft, 2 from IC2).  I haven't built much yet, so load anyway.

I had to setup my Controls and Video Settings again.  Oddly, I started with a book in my hand called "Materials and You, by Skyla."  It describes all kinds of odd things I've never seen before.  Must be from the Tinker's Construct mod.  Since I accidentally got those blocks of orichalcum, split a few into ingots, made myself helmet and chestplate, and a pickaxe.  Go down to abandoned mine and check out all those previously unbreakable ores.  Come back up with: 10 meteor chips, 2 emeralds, ores (3 Cu, 6 green Cu (??), 5+3+10 Sn, 1 prometheum, 9 Au, 2 orichalcum, 1 Pb, 2 Ag), 21 P.  Found a small zombie dungeon, chest gave me: steel helmet (Doh!), steadfast drone bee, bread, enchanted book (Punch I), 10 spruce wood.  Made 2 meteor shields -- one for me, one for village, so when I go to Normal mode it won't be destroyed.  Meteor shield said "charging" right away, a bit later it was shooting an occasional yellow ball up into the sky.  I hope that means it's working.  They're supposed to shield a fairly wide area, something like 40x40 blocks.

Later.  A meteor chip over a stick makes 4 Protected Land Markers, which will glow (faintly) when in an area protected by a meteor shield.  My testing shows that the meteor shield covers a radius of about 40 blocks.  I placed the other sheild in the village.  No villagers seemed to notice.  I went to the bulletin board area and a women came out to trade.  Traded some items, have no idea how it affected my reputation, but I got 3 denier argent (silver pieces) and 31 denier (copper pieces).  I started on some simple gravel roads around my little mine shack, and built the first real building across the street.  It took a while to find some sand for making glass, for my windows, but the building was finished in basic ugly cobble, stone and dirt.

Made a treetap because I remembered seeing some rubber trees not far away, but I ran into MineFactory rubber trees first, no tap needed.  Brought a bunch of saplings back to town, planted 6 of them.

19:30 - Set up my first little strip of IC2 crops, just wheat, cane and melons to start.  Found those IC2 rubber trees, tapped them, no saplings to bring home.  Did a quick mining run for coal, came back with the usual ores and 2 U.  Used iron crusher to turn ores to double dusts, then made my first autocrafter (for pistons), first 2 machine frames, first 8 wooden + stone pipes.  The trees don't pop apart anymore when I chop the bottom block??  Eek, the autocrafting table is now an "Auto Workbench", click to craft, takes no power but there's a 10-second wait to make anything??  19:49 - made a sawmill & stirling engine.  19:54 - 1st 12 ins.Cu wire, 1st RE battery.  20:30 - read a heap of recipes, funny to see IC2 so stripped down to bare bones after dealing with GregTech for most of a year now.  I setup some machines in new building: generator + copper power line + extractor; stirling engine + conductive pipes + sawmill.

Did a quick run to village for more trade.  Accidentally threw an egg at village leader trying to r-click him, didn't know I had picked up an egg.  No effect.  Good trades, grabbed a few wool.  Found a meteor fall on the way back: in the snowy forest, parts of some trees had been replaced by meteor blocks, got just 9 meteor chips.  Ran home, made a bed.  Done for now.

My home base is surrounded by about 4 good oil wells, so there will be a lot of power someday.
