FTB New World mod - what's in it?

I was looking in the Feed the Beast launcher for some 1.5.X modpacks, and saw one called New World mod, which had a bold mission: to collect a different set of mods so that there would be lots of new things for long-time players to explore and figure out.  Okay.  I ran it.  Let's see what's in it ...

After some quick reading, I mainly wanted to see the Metallurgy mod in action.  It adds about 30 new ores, both real and fictional, and a few tiers of crushers and smelters to process them.  And the Falling Meteors mod sounded like fun, dropping meteors with strange ores inside, though I'm sure it will make an ugly slag heap out of a world after a while.  The other new mods I haven't heard of, but I'm a sucker for exploring new mods, so off I go ...

Running singleplayer, getting 13-14 fps.  Started in an grassy plain with a few trees, pumpkin patch nearby.  Get digging, stone pick, dig more.  Soon had ores (5 Cu, 23 Cu (different), 6 Sn, 20 petroleum), and 8 bitumen.  Acacia tree pretty much fell apart as soon as I chopped one block, dropped 6 wood and 9 saplings.  Poof.  Another quick mining run (simple stair pattern down), a few more tin and copper.  Outside, a few of my planted acacias have grown.  The tree-destroying code (probably the Treecapitator mod) is a huge time-saver.  Chop the bottom block and it rains goodies.
Used some saplings as fuel to cook a few charcoal, for torches.  Made 2nd stone pick.

... to be continued ...
