FTB New World 6/20-6/21 with mega cave

6/20

After dinner trip.  Finished first floor of the new liquids lab, dropped an Aqueous Accumulator ouot back window into the pond, hooked up Magma Crucible, Igneous Extruder, Peat-Fired Engine.  Takes a long time for engine to melt a chunk of netherrack, but it's working.  Recipe changes: in the Magma Crucible, Ender Pearls now become Resonant Ender, Redstone melts to "Destabilized Redstone", and there's a new option to melt Glowstone into "Energized Glowstone".  Some colorful new names.  Also, a slightly new nehavior of that machine: it does NO processing on a 12,000 MJ melt job until it hits 12,000 MJ, then the melt begins.  Seems like it used to slowly melt things with almost no stored power, but of course that was dreadfully slow.

Most of my IC2 rubber tree saplings have grown, took my electric treetap out, got 13 resin.  Harvested 31 more peat, now out of bog earth.  Program is pretty well locked up now, white screen of spinning cursor death.  Snapped out of it, running but laggy.  Was probably my antivirus software updating again.  I now have 2724 mN of lava in my Igneous Extruder, so it dhurns out a block of stone every time the water reaches one bucket.  Should have lots of building material soon!  Already have 2x64+20 stone, grab 2 stacks to make into slabs and other stuff I like to build with.  MFE at 452K, throw 16 peat in the generator.

New stuff: there are no Sandy brick stairs, slabs and Sandy brick bricks ("Fitted Sandy Stone") and Smooth Sandy brick bricks ("Sandy Blocks").  Sandy Brick came from Railcraft, to stop people from using the coke oven bricks as decoration, since the coke oven bricks try to iterate around their neighbors to see if they form a complete coke oven or not.  Now it's evolving as a thing of its own.  Trying to sort it out ...

Brk Snd / Snd Brk = SandyBlock (used to make SandyBrick)
SandyBlock = FittedSandyStone (has stone brick pattern)
SandyBlock + GP = EtchedSandyStone (has creeper face pattern)
2 SandyBlockSlab = SandyBlock
3 SandyBlock = 6 SandyBlockSlab
6 SandyBlock = 6 SandyBlockStairs
8 SandyBlock (chest pattern) = 8 OrnateSandyStone (looks like Chiseled stone brick)
FittedSandyStone = SandyBrick
SandyBrick (obsolete) = SandyBrick
SandyBrick / Snd / SandyBrick = CokeOvenBrick
3 SandyBrick = 6 SandyBrickSlab
6 SandyBrick = 6 SandyBrickWall
6 SandyBrick = 4 SandyBrickStairs
SandyBrickSlab / SandyBrickSlab = SandyBrick

Pretty confusing.  Cooked a stack of clay into bricks.  Planted my 2 cactus blocks last night, got 6, dug em up and planted them in a new sand zone near my peat bog, now they're full grown.  Harvested, replanted, only 3 cactus left over for use.  They may not be dropping all segments when dug up.  Different.  Quick stop at igneous extruder, grabbed 2x64 more stone for building and scheming.  Made one batch of obsidian pipes, stuck my usual chest and obsidian pipe in my IC2 crop patch.  of all the darn useless things, looks like the Auto Workbench won't craft a second item until I take out the last block it made.  Jeez, can't let it run for a while and make a whole stack of something??  Out of cobble?  Switch to cobble in my igneous extruder ... 12 done (20:07) ... feed the cats, then 78 done (20:09), switch back to stone.  Pulverize cobble to sand, cook brick, auto workbench makes one coke oven brick at a time, every 6 bricks or so I step outside and add them to the construct.  Coke oven done (20:32), way too slow, but it got done, and first batch of 7 coal is cooking now.  Break.

Late night.  Now have 6 stacks of stone in chest next to Igneous Extruder.  That makes up for the 2-3 stacks I cheated myself as a head start.  Made stone slabs, stone bricks, framed out a new building: wood shop.  Will move the sawmill in there when I have new pipes and engines to power it.  Take electric treetap to my rubber tree farm, get 16 resin.  New cactus crop.  Looks like they drop one fewer block is the sand is dug out from beneath them, but if I place sand next to them, all 3 blocks drop.  So I got 18, planted 10, took 8 home.

Heard a meteor fall (even though I disabled all 4 types in the config file?).  Ran out to find it, detector led me nowhere, but I found a huge hole in the ground which opened up into one of the most massive caves I've ever seen in the game.  Several chambers at least 20x20, dropping 30 blocks down, open to the sky way up above ... got some screen grabs.  And brought home gobs of ore: 19 Au, 9 Zn, 8+10+11+19 Cu, 31 Fe, 1 Ag, 6+8+8 Sn, 3 Pm, 7 petroleum, 8 bitumen, 15 P, 1 U, 1 emerald, 3 quartz.

Last mission of the night: dug a tunnel back to that massive cave, 160m away, depth 53.  Boy, jotting down coordinates makes that easy.  From tunnelling alone, grabbed 76 apatite, 3 Zn, 10 Cu, 1 Pt, 4+10 Sn, 1 U, 3 Ag, 44 Fe, 5 quartz, 2 quartz dust.  Oh, and I did my weird cactus harvest again (by putting sand next to them so they pop), 15 leftover after replanting.  14 stacks of stone from Igneous Extruder, it's done for now (lava <1000 mB), and I won't need any more for a while!  Made 8 barrels, put them arching over the stairs down to my original mine (next to my be chamber), filled with common stuff.  NFE at 600K.  Put 32 coal in coke oven & go to bed.
