FTB Ultimate on MultiMC: back from digital Limbo

2/27/2022 MultiMC: FTB Ultimate & VeeTech 1.5.2

I moved my old 2-gig Technic VeeTech (1.5.2) world over to MultiMC, and it runs like a charm.

Back to FTB Ultimate (the one with GregTech).  It's on such an old version of MC (1.4.7) that dragging items across the crafting grids or inventory hasn't been invented yet, but the endless bees and the intricacies of the GregTech tech tree are worth any minor hassles.  I had fun just exploring every corner of this big city of mine, looking for hooks to more projects and engineering tasks.

I started off by putting my celebratory bees back into an apiary and scaring the crap out of myself when their fireworks went off.  Yeah, I totally forgot that was their special ability: a fun display of fireworks as long as they are active.  Which has the bonus of making it super obvious when they are done working and ready to breed again.

I have a big Generator Room that's actually two stories tall with 9 regular generators, 3 semifluid generators, 6 thermal generators and 2 gas turbines, none of which are needed now that I have top-tier hybrid solar panels keeping my IDSU at a billion EU all day long.  The regular generators are serviced by a white-red-white ender chest, and there are a few of those around town with signs saying "to Generators", most notably in the recycling house where all wooden tools get tp'd to the generators.  And there are 3 diesel generators in the basement and 5 more in the next room over.

Here are the different fuels for each of those, to refresh my memory by typing:

Diesel Generator (12 EU/t):
    biofuel cell = 6,000 EU
    coalfuel cell = 16,000 EU
    lava bucket = 32,000 EU
    nitro-coalfuel cell = 48,000 EU
    fuel bucket = 384,000 EU
    nitro-diesel cell = 400,000 EU

Gas Turbine (16 EU/t):
    hydrogen cell = 15,000 EU
    methane cell = 45,000 EU

Semifluid Generator (8 EU/t):
seed oil can = 2,000 EU
    creosote oil = 3,000 EU
    biomass bucket = 8,000 EU
    sodium cell = 30,000 EU
    lithium cell = 60,000 EU
    oil bucket = 64,000 EU

Thermal Generator (24 EU/t):
    lava bucket = 30,000 EU
heating cell = 30,000 EU, which is a lava cell, electronic circuit and dense copper plate, so that's a waste

There are some clever assembly lines setup around town.  One outputs from a wire puller into a dispenser between 3 xycraft fabricators, so if I keep the dispenser stocked with rubber, it quickly makes 3 different types of insulated wires.

There is the factorization setup that runs ore through the grinder then mixer (pulling in bucket os water from nearby accumulator) then slag furnace, then 6 crystallizers all pulled by a router into a final chest.

I hopped over to the town called Wasteville, and renamed it Dry Lake.  It is a wide plain of cracked sand, which GregTech gave a use for.  You can run it through the industrial centrifuge and get fuel cans with K each, which can run through a generator for energy.  I have a setup for that already built in that town, and it's rather fun to watch, and to go harvest more cracked sand from under ground and bring it back up for power.  A byproduct is saltpeter, so the place could also produce gunpowder.

Now, the biggest game-in-a-game is the Forestry bees, of course.  Even after 95,101 bees, it says I have only discovered 113 of 199 species.  Checking the master apiarist database, the branches are:

Next breeding pairs:
imperial + demonic = esoteric (10%)
Get some demonic drones, an ordinary princess and synthesize 5 doses of imperial species serum.  Give the demonic drone max fertility while waiting for species to change, then put them in the alveary out back with the mutator blocks, with two uranium, 2 ender pearls.  Result: esoteric princess & 2 drones, 3 royal jelly, 2 dripping comb.  I can check this one off my list above, but still need to get a few drones to extract a species serum.

I setup my main lab with groups of each type of machine, so if I need to centrifuge something, I work over there, electrolyzers nearby but extractors downstairs, and all the multiblocks on the roof.  But these days I would prefer to set them up as specific production lines, like working all the way from clay to lithium and sodium, etc.  Or having a town where a hive of one specific bee (sodalite, emerald, etc) produces either the town's energy supply or enough goods for trade.
