Got some Forge block ID mismatches, loaded anyway. Started with a weird gold thing in hand: Creative Tool Modifier (Tinker's Construct). Huh, stick it in chest.
A few quick visits on a very busy weekend. Built up my Lavender Base, about 5 stories, with tunnels running out to caves & landmarks, last night was a bit brain dead and dug a tunnel all the way back to my original base (about 500 blocks), even though I always use the map to teleport back & forth. But tunnels are a fun way to explore ... I ended up crossing through a little dungeon with a single-use safari net and dragons egg in a chest.
I moved all the thermal expansion equipment to the new base. Already have so much metal, so much of everything. Not sure about th long-term playability of this modpack. Galacticraft could take a huge amount of crafting, and some crazy goals. But everything else is pretty tame and pointless. I can use Minefactory Reloaded stuff to make endless "stuff". Don't need it. I can get stacks of leather, make bookshelves, make an enchanting table. But I already have about 4 stacks of diamonds, so I don't really need Silk Touch. I can enchant armor, but I mostly avoid fights or find them tame. I can easily replace all my diamond gear any time. Tinker's Construct is so much work to setup, and again I pretty much only use it to make Silk Touch or bonus tools; and in the last modpack I played it was very glitchy and after all that constuction the smeltery pretty much didn't work. Not interested in the Witchery stuff, which seems more like a multiplayer mischief mod. Necromancy mod is just grim and absurd. Darwin mod is cute, but I don't know that any of the hybrids actually server a purpose other than looking weird. Hats are stupid, I don't use Morph to change into other things though there may be some entertainmen there. Advanced Genetics has a complex way to extract DNA from mobs, pick specific traits (like eating grass) and inject them into yourself: amusing but I can't see crafting 3 or 4 machines out of 100 ingredients just so I can eat grass or run faster.
I'm surprised I haven't used Archimedes Ships yet. I did some exploring in a lame little vanilla boat when I could have made a big custom boat. OTOH, I already have more of the world mapped than I will ever need. Fun to find new biomes I guess, but underneath it all is the same dozen ores and gems I already have. It would be a good world to be a tree collector, maybe I'll start an arboretum. I miss the animals from the Hexxit modpack, they were fun to collect.
Right now, most of my spare time is being spent on music: I have a regular gig on Monday nights, voice lessons with Eve Selis, after 2 decades of non-support and opposition, it feels like people are finally starting to realize I have some skills in those areas. So, minimal gaming, and I don't lay awake at night planning big factories anymore. Glad about that, since gaming can really take over a life.
