Overgrown 2026: Long Trip to Forgotten Waypoint

260216 Overgrown 2026

I added a recipe where 2 rainbow wisps + pinkly poo gives 4 rainbow wisps.  It will speed up the process of getting these stacks of items without giving away the farm.  While I do enjoy survival and almost never use creative mode, I don't think a process is more enjoyable just because it takes hours to do.  There's a balance where I can get things done in a human timescale on this busy schedule of mine.  I was going to use bat poop, since it has no use except for the comical information page that says, "Hi. I'm bat poop."  But the pinkly poo has "rainbow" in its full name, and it's not cheap.

I grabbed 8 p-poo and some pink wool and was able to make 16 of my 17 wisps into 32 wisps and use the last wisp to make a toll repair table.  From the UI, it looks like it takes 4 mending twine and a tool to repair the tool.  Then 8 wisps to make 4 mending twine, which oddly gave me the achievement: "Book of the End, new features unlocked."  Well, this is cool.  Although the repair table has 4 slots for mending twine, you can use just one to get partial repairs.  One mending twine was enough to get my silk touch diamond pickaxe from about 55% up to 80%.

This vast open plain around the failed MineColony is perfect for setting up larger, widely spaced builds.  That's why I thought the MineColony itself would fit there, but I have yet to find an NPC-built town or kingdom mod that does what I am looking for without eventually getting confused and stuck.

One possible project I have had in mind is to display all the Rockhounding Surface wood types:

araucarioxylon

bog oak

bog spruce

castanoxylon

driftwood

fossil azurite wood

fossil beech

mophane

opalized wood

palmoxylon

petrified betula

rainbow wood

swamp kauri

swamp pine

teredo-bored wood

yellow cat redwood

These all have logs, stripped logs, planks, stairs, slabs, fences, fence gates, doors, sticks (why?) and even chiseled plank varieties.  That will take some space to display them all.  Normally, I do wood showcases as log facing up, log facing forward, then two planks, but with doors, it should probably be a 3-wide door frame with fence-gate-fence above.  Interesting.  I actually thought there were more of these types of wood.  There is also a wood incubator machine to make these from more readily available types of wood and chemicals.

I set aside some space along a road to a Quark marble mine for these.  But the blocks themselves are back in Brixton and Aden.

I managed to get 20 reinforced twine and my first two trawl netting.

Haha, the moo shroo poo fungi that grow (rarely) on the pinkly mycelium have one use: brew them into hallucinogen potions:

[Brewing] m s p fungi + awkward potion = hallucinogen potion{night vision (0:45), speed (0:45), nausea (3:00), hunger II (0:30)}.

[Brewing] m s p fungi + hallucinogen potion = strong hallucinogen potion{blindness (3:00), slowness (3:00), nausea (5:00), hunger II (0:30)}.

There are splash and lingering versions.

The info popup for the m s p fungi says you can get them by clicking moo shroo poo onto dirt.

Boy, there a lot of bizarre enchantments in this pack.  Animosity, hops, sunder, shulker core, uncrossing, magic missile, bark, scavenger heal and others.  And the humorously named series of burnerang, bladerang, boomereaperang, Kaboomerang and zoomerang from Extra Utilities.

I managed to setup a 3x4 showcase of all but 4 of the Rockhounding woods, on the road between the mycelium lab and Quark marble mine.

Here's something that had been bugging me, mostly in the middle of the night.  This world (this modpack) evolved from an earlier world/pack, which evolved from an earlier version which I evolved from Life in the Village.  In one of those earlier worlds, my furthest waypoint "Ocean Monument Base" went somewhere cool, and had a portal back to a beachfront village that's probably long gone.  Let's go see.  6565 blocks to go.

Crazy sharp mesa islands around -365 132 -909, chocolate-looking house in roofed forest at 46 85 -386, pyramid at top of lonely mesa outside Derby at 920 167 153 (3 more pyramids in the valley far below), 4396m to go.  Academy 3 waypoint (2 academies in desert) at 1559 77 1142, academy and dungeon tower at 1928 77 1464, yet another academy at 1972 80 1657.  I really should mine out a few of those so they're not so commonplace.

With 2250m to go, we ended up over an ocean.  Maybe that old landmark base is still there??

Looks like just one tower of an ocean temple sticking up to the surface at 2267 64 2035, lots of guardians around.   Shipwreck at 2506 64 1947 -- I didn't know those existed in this world.  Back over land, then back over ocean with 323m to go.  Maybe??

Finally, I see a sign at the edge of the beach: "Waypoint: ocean monument base."  I vaguely recall that the actual monument was a little further offshore.  There is a monument at 3910 61 3384 but it's not my base.  Another ocean monument skinny tower, then a shipwreck at 4228 62 3226.  Squid mode!  The shipwreck chest had loot from Patchwork and Mega Loot, then I went down into that little tower.  It had a vertical shaft down to a loop of hallways with about 8 guardians.  There were blocks of iron and gold and one diamond, plus sponges and "elder prismarine" from the Quark mod.  So that was fun.  But if I ever had a base all cleared out and filled with air, it was either in a different world, or these chunks reverted.  The island with the sign has sandy beaches with flamingos.  A fun bit of exploring.  As I was typing that, a sandstorm started.

Headed back home.  From here, the farthest waypoint is "Academy 3" at 9115m.  A fairly big world, though that's barely a drop in the ocean for the size of these worlds, ha ha.  Spotted my first Quark crab at 3525 63 3188.

Speaking of beaches, I really need some driftwood for my Rockhounding wood museum, none to be found.  Brick dungeon house at 3422 81 2861.  All the waypoint markers in my world are to the northwest from here.

Still exploring.  New waypoint: ruined desert town at 875 65 2333.  Deep chasm nearby and a sandstone pyramid with a small pond, some cacti and a jukebox inside.  That's odd.

Oh wow, and actual village ... it's an oak town at the edge of the desert.  Villages are super rare in this world.  I dubbed this one Araby.  It has a lot of locals, a few sandstone buildings and ocelots, and a totem pole.   This can by my future hub in this area.  Yet another academy and a tar pit in the area.

Then a big sandstone box of a building sitting on a beach.  One entrance over the water, strip of green terracotta on each wall.  About 18x18.  I have never seen one of these before.  Inside is a multilevel space with terraces and flames and zombies, a bit like the blue monastery in my other worlds, but all sandstone.  Future visit...

Lots of ocelots and desert beaches, still not a single block of driftwood.  At -34 70 1536, a dig site has a tar pit slopping down into a cave.  Gravel beaches, whole gravel islands, still no driftwood.  An isolated tiny melon/pumpkin farm at -192 69 1250 with a dungeon tower across the pond.

1800m back to Eastwick or 1130m to Aden from here.  While I'm in the area, let's take a detour to (0,0).  New waypoint "ruined swamp town" at -253 76 -330.  Made it to (0, 0) and oddly there is a dungeon building there, one of the ones with the stone brick box with spiral stairs and iron golem.  There was a torch there, so I suppose I have been here before.  But the golem is still there, pacing around.  Oh, I already had a waypoint called "0,0 dungeon".  Fine.  All of the 7 or 8 floors have been cleared with no sign of the crossing hallways usually found at the bottom of these things.

Only 200m to Rustic, so that's where I landed.  I have a few golden backpacks FULL of loot, though, so I should go back to Brixton to unpack it all into the storage network.

Poof.  The network says there are 312 slots available.  Somehow, I got two enchanted pufferfish called the "Bane of Ocelots", with Curse of Binding III.  And a fanciirite sword from Pinkly Sheep "raider's iron".  Rare Mega Loot crate: Blight's Plight sword, 12 damage, withers enemy for 1 second on hit, durability 1128.  I also brought home a good stash of prismarine, from excavating the walls of that ocean temple.  Some raw guardian meat, guardian air sacs and guardian fins from VFP.

After the big drop off, I went back over to the double tower and got rid of the last of the stone cocoon, and started building a new framework for the big missing middle section.  It's coming along okay, with some placed blaze rods and glowstone for lighting.

Finally, I wanted to make a use for the cinder blooms that are always setting me on fire out in the wilds.  It's not safe to r-click them with any fertilizer, so I am adding a recipe to take 2 flowers plus a coagulated plantball to get 4 flowers, same as if we had spread the plant itself.  Then two blooms = 1 blaze powder, which we are always short on.  That should work without being too cheaty.

We'll see if those new recipes load up next time around.
