Overgrown 2026: Roads, Pillars and Icy Animal Isle

260202 Overgrown 2026

I started right off with the road building project.  I grabbed some items from my starter house stash at Aden and took the new road out to Witch Town.  I planted a blazing tree and a red maple tree in the town center for color.  I made the blazing tree three blocks higher than usual by putting down wood first, then netherrack, then bonemealing it and replacing the netherrack with matching wood.  That's quite striking.  From there, I started the road to the south and found a big flat roack about 20x20 which I bored a tunnel through, and dubbed it "Split Rock 2/2/2026."  Guess I am making my own landmarks.  From there, I scouted out the big sakura arch 204m east, and (8:28pm) started a path to that striking location.

For this build, I am using dirt paths and oak slabs & stairs for the rises, because they are the best match for the color of the path.  I was using dirt slabs but don't care for them anymore.  2039: The road has made it to the sakura arch.  I wonder what I might be inspired to buil up there on the arch someday.  2045: made it to -129 67 -1142 where the grass turns to red sand desert.  Guess it's all oak slabs for this part.  2050: the next landmark was a small terracotta dungeon with one zombie spawner and a chest at -114 68 -1093.  The blaze castle is on the horizon...

2054: I hollowed out two of the little mesa pillars there, for possible future storage or safe houses.

2059: My road has made it out across the red sands to the Nether Castle, under the frowning chirps of a dozen vultures.  I stayed out of range to trigger those spawners, and stopped at a tiny pinnacle with a little pond and oasis.  Future base to raid the castle from.  I put up the signage for that spot: "Tiny Oasis Outpost" and dated it.  I have to take a greak and run out to get some things -- glucose is going seriously low again.

2128: Back, road has made it to the plains at 79 64 -870.  2134: ran between two big pits at 84 63 -739.  Brick Hall is the next landmark ... 271m east.  A total of 421m east to Rustic.  2142: across the gravel flats, switch to oak slabs. I've had to stop off and do some logging to keep the oak supply going.  I do cheat a stack here and there, because the game isn't going to be more fun just because things take longer.  So the road slipped in between the two huge sigillaria trees and up to Brick Hall.  My tools were wrecked, especially the shovel that has been pounding the path the whole way, so I fed 25 nuggets to the anvil pet and got back to action.

2201: Made it to Rustic.  Now I can technically walk all the way to Aden to Mammoth Woods to Brixton to MineColony to Albertville.  Albertville is 2149m away as the crow flies.  Quite a walk.

That's a 5-minute run to Aden.  Would have been a bit faster if I didn't stop to replace those ugly dirt slabs with oak ones.  ;-)

Well, that's enough manual labor.  I tp'd to the dungeon at icy animal isle, will try to clear some levels.

2222: After the fourth level of that spiral stair, it looks like the dungeon intersected a big cave, and so many mobs (including shades) had been spawning down there that even dropping a stack of gravel couldn't clear them out.  I got three more chests of loot, so I'm moving on for now.  Let some of those despawn.

2241: From there, I flew back to Albertville and cleaned up the first leg of that road, going up the mountain.  Then ran the rest of the way over to MineColony.  Done for the night.

Tonight I figured I should finish clearing out that dungeon at "icy mtn dng."  I was picturing that I could push the iron golem down a few levels and have him tank through the mobs, but I punched him by mistake and had to return him to sender.  I made it down the spiral stairs with the help of a cheap sword to cut through webs, and my cloud pet who likes to throw lightning bolts.

After that there was a long hallway that split both ways, and the same spiral stair down that you see in Roguelike Dungeons, so this is probably one of those.  The battle raged on, one hallway after another.  I brought some dynamite, but that released a swarm of silverfish.  If I was not able to fly, I don't know how I would have gotten past some of those corners.  It was a well-designed encounter area for sure.  And there are still some rooms left to go, for next time.  On the funny side, when I came back to the surface, there were about a dozen blocks on fire, up and down the ice spikes, where the lightning bolts passed through the ground to assist me.  Luckily, I turned off fire tick a long time ago.

I left a double chest of loot on the roof of that dungeon, and can now safely call it my base, since I have to go down at least 5 levels before there are any spawners.  And I'm headed home with two golden backpacks full of loot.  So much stuff, so little space.  I will probably have to add a few more chests to my Simple Storage network.

I stopped at the main lab and made 8 gold chests, then hooked up 4 of them to the network.  From there, I grabbed all the terracotta and hopped over to my clay & terracotta storage pinnacle ... and carved out a small second floor while I was there.  A quick stop at the new poo tower showed 8 new pinkly poo.  I still need 81x2 to get the rainbow slurry.  I brought over the poo from the previous stashes and my totals are: 136 pinkly poo, 1 manure, 77 toxic manure, 1 moo shroo poo.  Kinda gross, but the Pinkly Sheep mode adds these funny and bizarre uses for dung as well as a fairly extensive system of green waste recycling.  I officially named that glass tower of livestock as "the Pinkly Sheep tower of poo" and slapped the date on there.

I really like my current M.O. of putting signs on new builds and discoveries, with the date.  Now, when we explore older worlds, it's a let down to find signs with NO date, so we will never know how old that piece of our MC history was.  I think I started dating things about 3 years ago, and it's a nice little extra to find some forgotten ruin and see that we discovered in June 2022 or whatever.

I went ahead and made 4 gold-to-diamond chest upgrades for the storage network.  It's pretty wild looking at all those chests and the random-seeming way they were filled up.  Every now and then, I can come and take all the VFP stuff or all the funky tags, and take them to the main storage for those items.

Oh, my chestplate is completely gone.  Darn dungeon goons.  It was one of those cool Mega Loot pieces that the anvil pet cannot repair.  I made some books on the enchanter (EnderIO) and made a diamond chestplate (Unbreaking III, Fire Protection III).

A few other little projects to wrap up the night.  I thought I had stashed a few stacks of mycelium, but who knows where, so I tp'd back to the icy animal dng and walked over to the enchanted forrest to grab a few stacks.  Looks like the E key changes the Ore Excavation dig size, up to 5x5, but NONE gets you the whole vein up to the limit.  Then I hopped to the spot outside MineColony where I planned the "7x7 diamond-shaped plot of mycelium" that I would put the rainbow slurry on, to make albino mycelium and eventually blessed earth.

Heck.  I started on the road from Brixton to Colfax.  Across the fields, stopped at the dungeon at -1996 64 -1902.  Dig site at -1944 71 -1854 with big bouncy tar slimes to greet me.  No sign of the dude.  Made it to Academy 1 at -2041 83 -1744.  Through tundra podzol country to big pyramid at -2296 76 -1813.  Colfax is still 474m away, through some very hilly terrain.  Spotted a vine-covered dungeon tower at -1408 99 -1658.   WIll finish that part of the road on a future adventure.  Time to tp back to Brixton to end the evening.
