Overgrown 2026: What the Purple Blazes?
290129 Overgrown 2026
I posted my logs from 1/16 to 1/19. Always a few days or weeks late, sometimes months. I have other logs going back years that were never posted at all. I don't write these to get a literary prize, I just honestly record notes to entertain myself while playing, and then share them as-is.
Since I started off in Aden, and my attempt to set up armor stands sucked, I setup a row of iron chests in the big temple here for armor pieces, tools and weapons. I was hoping I could turn off the Mo Bends body model for stuff put onto armor stands, but there is no config for that, so they just look awful. Anyway, every big settlement ends up with a stash of armor -- I just prefer having it on armor stands to look like silent armies guarding the place.
I started on another exploration flight back to the frozen wastes, but saw a dungeon house (-487 73 -1587) not far from the monster masher, so I made a road to connect it to my network. The waypoint is "dng house", sign on the door (that I just put there) says "Dungeon House -487". Might as well take a moment to fix it up. ore-excavate the spiral stairs and put ladders down instead -- with the neat Quark mod tweak that you can r-click ladders on the top ladder and it automatically extends the flight of ladders downwards. Sweet.
Since I ended up right next to my Stronghold waypoint, I figured I should finally hop over to the End and check it out. Holy cow, there are purple blazes all over, shooting me from every direction. PLUS the dragon. It was so chaotic I had no chance to get a decent screenshot, but here it is a second after the dragon was gone and the xp was still showering down:
I cleared all the towers then got blinded by endless fire ... and ended up back int the Overworld with a message that "A pelican snatched you from the void." What the? I was over 2000 blocks away in an unknown area. Nearby were two pyramids and two dungeon structures, which I waypointed as "4 pyramids" for short.
I dropped off Inventory Pets, armed up with the best MegaLoot bow I could find, and a few stacks of arrows, and went back to the End. The dragon fight was an epic 20-minute battle. The darn pink blazes were relentless, hitting me from every direction. But after sticking with it for way too long, the dragon went down. I can't say my eyes aren't killing me after all that. Ow. I pearled out through one of the tiny portals to an outer island. And the damned pink blazes were everywhere. I could hardly touch down and see what the ores were without getting wrecked. That is NOT an improvement to the dimension. In fact, it sucks.
I found one small end city and dropped a waypoint, only to realize I never had a moment's peace to put a waypoint on the main island. So I flew the 1800 blocks back, and wouldn't you know it, as I got within 200 blocks of the main island, the air filled with hundreds of fireballs that had been shot out during the big battle.
I flew through the mess as fast as I could, dove into the portal, skipped the end credits, and woke up in my bed in my Mine Colony.
That feels like a good end for the night. I was not able to get the dragon egg with all the mobs a-blazin' over there. I did get 79 levels, a heart of gold, 32 end magma blocks, a name tag for "Pyro E Guard", 7 end shards and 2 end diamond ore. There were a few plants, but I had no time to stop and see what they were.
Looking at the end magma, there's only one recipe, but it's a doozie:
AAA/BCB/DCD (end magma, xorcite, end stone pillar, purpur block) = void forge
The tool tip on that item says "The heat of this forge changes the properties of the endorium."
Hmm.

I tried to figure out where those pink blazes came from. I assumed it was End Reborn III, but I don't see configs mentioning them or videos showing them as part of that mod.
On my lunch break, I red up on the Pinkly Sheep mod's crazy progression of mycelium. Make a 7x7 mycelium farm (don't let it touch any dirt blocks or it will spread) and plop a bucket of rainbow slurry in the middle. After a while it should convert to albino mycelium ... pick up the slurry source block, harvest the albino stuff, put the slurry back. When you get enough albino mycelium, set up another 7x7 patch of just the albino stuff and let it sit -- possibly for days. It should turn into pinkly mycelium and eventually drop the wisps needed for the trawler station.
I would also need moo shroo poo, dropped by mooshrooms, and apparently you can throw pinkly eggs at a 3x3 or larger patch of mycelium for a chance of getting a mooshroom calf. This is some weird agriculture.
First, some smaller things. Since I spawned at MineColony, I was wondering if I could swap out the saplings in the bonsai pots, now that I don't need those vanilla logs for the colony builds. Nope, they don't accept murray pine saplings (Plants mod). Project Vibrant Journeys saplings, no. Oddly, the red cedar from Totemic works fine. Quark mod blossoming sapling, yes. Fossils mod or Calculator mod saplings, no.
Also, since there are drawers full of building materials over there ... there are some Prefab mod buildings I don't think I've seen yet: the Jail, Magic Temple, Aqua Base, Watchtower?, Ender Gateway, Moderate House, Bulldozer, Warehouse or Advanced Warehouse (crazy expensive),
Recipes for those:
ABA/ACA/DED (2x stone, warehouse upgrade, compr chest, coil of lanterns, 3x comp stone) = advanced warehouse, where
ABA/CDC/ABA (bookshelf, brewing stand, ench table, anvil) = warehouse upgrade
A-A/BAB/-B- (diamond pick, diamond shovel) = bulldozer
AAA/-A-/-B- (2x comp stone, comp stone) = watch tower
AAA/BCD/AAA (bundle of timber, brewing stand, ench table, blaze rod) = magic temple
AAA/ABA/CDC (iron bars, 3x stone, 2x dirt, 2x stone) = jail
ABA/BCB/ADA (pris bricks, quartz block, 2x obsidian, 3x stone) = end gateway
AAA/BCB/BDB (glass, comp stone, sea lantern, coil of lanterns) = aqua base
I'm not sure which stables and coops I have used before either:
AAA/BCB/BBB (bricks, bundle of timber, hay bale) = horse stable
4 horse stables + coil of lanterns = advanced horse stable
AAA/BCB/DED (bricks, spruce wood, egg, comp dirt, hay bale) = chicken coop
chicken coop + pallet of bricks = advanced chicken coop
I tp'd back to Brixton and moved the four villagers out to a small trading booth by the waterstone lab. Then I used their small room under the bonsai pot line-up for a Prefab mod lab. Compacting drawers for dirt, stone, wood, glowstone, obsidian and paper lanterns. There was one small two-block space in the corner where no blocks could be placed, for some odd reason. So, I can start building up to those new structures. This is the spot, considering my main storage is here, and bonsai pots have spit out thousands of logs over the years.
Next, I needed some mooshrooms. A note on the Pinkly Sheep wiki said you can throw pinkly eggs onto 3x3 patches of mycelium for a chance at getting a mooshroom calf instead of a chick. I had just over a stack from the years of vacuum chesting the waste of my 10 pink sheep. I went out to the enchanted forest full of giant mushrooms where the ground is criss-crossed with mycelium. It took 22 eggs to get two mooshroom babies. I saw that mycelium can spread to dirt but not to grass, so this biome alternates mycelium and grass to avoid beinr totally overrun. I dropped the moo babies in with my pigs for now. I will be moving all these guys out by the welcome center for more space and more population.
I stopped at Rustic to drop off those two little frogs in the duck pond. From there it was a quick hop to the Brick Ruin fossil lab. I bonemealed the big sigillaria trees and found that bonemeal will spread the Fossils mod plants, and do it correctly, even for the two-block-high plants, where the Plants mod plantballs dupe only the top or bottom half. Cool. Never stop learning. I started replacing the glass stairs across the top of the Prefab greenhouse (bird sanctuary) with quite clear glass.
Time's up for the night.
