Overgrown: Crafting blitz & a periodic table

0940pm: start the night on a bit of a crafting blitz.  I totally forgot I had Iron Furnaces installed, so I went around pulling existing furnaces and upgrading them to at least iron or gold for now.  For Prefab Monster Masher, I went to Brixton for 81 glowstone, double compressed it, made 2 compressed chests, some double and on triple compressed stone.

Huh.  I spent all the resources on that Monster Masher building, and placed it across the river on the plains over there, but after about 30 mobs, nothing dropped.  And the mobs can see me.  The creeper actually try to explode.  Might need a minor design modification.

(1021) Nope, whether I move the slabs up or down one, the mobs can still see me -- or I can't see them.  Still, no drops.  I took off my item magnet before testing it.

(1046) I setup an enchanting table and shelves in the temple basement, near the big witch head tile pattern.  Moved an anvil into a neabry alcove.  I have 75 levels, so I figured I should start trying to save them somehow.  Enchented some books, mostly level 30 (3 lapis), but not impressed: Decay, Eternal Compass, Efficiency IV, Dodging III, Runed III, Reading, Long Cast IV Speed Boost III, and Protection II.  Tried making actual items instead: diamond helmet got Unbreaking III, Blast Prot IV, quality Masterful but only 383 durability; diamond legs got Prot III; new diamond boots got Hops III, Blast Prot IV, and I added the Nimble III.  New diamond pick got Siphon (?), XP Boost III, quality Sharp, adding my Efficiency IV.  That's a decent set right there.

(1119) Wow, that Fortune III pick made a huge difference when mining in the Huge Cavern dimension.  The XP Boost III meant I got back up to level 33.  I brought home 61 BLOCKS of lapis, 53 blocks of coal, 14 blocks of auamarine, 25 compressed stone.  Fortune also works on the randomite ore, so I was getting 2-4 saplings or fruits at a time, and 3 fruits is enough to make one sapling, so even though no Harvestcraft trees spawned in the world, I am gradually building up the flora, one pick at a time.

(1128) So now Brixton has got the first gooseberry, plum and trees in the Overworld.

One funny thing I noticed is that those horrible fade leaf flowers can be used to make Plants mod coagulated plant balls to help the world spread more pleasant plants.

(1212) Big fun project ... I took the big 12x12 bunk room on the top floor of the Welcome Center and lined up 2x2 storage drawers along one wall to hold every chemical element.  The periodic table is 18 columns wide, so it could be built with 9-wide, 5-tall set of 2x2 drawers.  H and He got their own single drawers at the top of their columns.  I made the bottom column, the actinides and lanthanides, their own wood tone, and the left and right columns of different wood, to give the approximation of the color schemes for the different columns.  I can't make just one column of a 2x2 drawer a different color, but it did come out pretty impressive.  I moved all the ingots and the few machines here from the Prefab home base, and set a waypoint "Welcome Ctr Chem" for easy access in and out as I collect more elements.

(1020pm) I dug down under the Welcome Center, since I saw a cave opening there before I placed the building.  It wound down and around, up through a tiny crack and down a hallway with ... an iron door and wooden button?  Inside was an archaeologist villager selling: 2 Em = 3 bones, 12 bones = 1 Em, 11 Em = iron pickaxe, 7 Em = archaeologist hat (cute).  Oddly, the hat is from the Quark mod.  Maybe this whole NPC is from there?  I would assume it was from the Fossils mod, but maybe not.  Tp'd back up to Brixton to stash my goods.

Poop check: cows: 36 manure, 3 tiny t; pigs: 13 manure, 3 tiny t, 2 toxic manure; sheep: nothing.  I dyed two of the sheep pink a few nights ago, no drops yet.  Make two manure blocks, set them out to dry.  I never got much into the Pinkly Sheep green waste, but would like to move toward a worm farm and fishing trawler.

(1049) Tp to enchanting.  New diamond pick got Siphon, Unbreaking III, Efficiency IV.

(1135) Tp to Albertville.  Swap out some crops for jute (for string), corn, millet.  Put down 4 ground traps.  Go to neighborhood dungeon, run amok on 3rd level, but end up in an area so broken up it's hard to say which way is up.  I found a black & white checkerboard room with an enderman spawner, but the endermen fight each other and up close they are young and adult chronologists, but I can't trade with them.  Strange.  On the way out I found a tomb chamber with 3 wither skeleton skulls.

(1139) First batch from ground traps (8 fruit, 8 veggie bait): 2 rabbits feet, feather, bone, egg, 4 raw chicken, 3 raw duck.

(1244) A few more runs.  Bring books from loot chests to Enchanting table; check out caves under other areas.  Finally, get enough cobble to make another triple compressed block, and add a Machinery Tower (Prefab) to Brixton, next to the Saloon.  It nestled nicely between some tall custom birch trees.  I will gradually change the facade to have more brickwork.

What is going on here?  No, really ... I have no idea.
