Overgrown: Cavern dims & Nether calling
4/15/2021 Overgrowth-1-1
Last night I did some more fussing around. Exploring deep pits and Cavern dimensions. This time to get home from the Aqua Cavern, I just hit /home instead of going through the portal and getting blown up by mobs. Sure enough, there were NO mobs around the portal when I walked back over to check. I wonder if that was coded as a deliberate surprise? Anyway, I made it to a new mining level: Hexcite Miner. I spent some time at my periodic table wall, putting more elements into the proper places.
I finally got a pinkly egg, back up to 7 pinkly poo. 36 dirty dirt. Still not sure if I can plant a regular potato in that stuff or only the wild potatoes which don't seem available by any means. Technically, the sludge renew can also make diseased versions of regular crops, solely to make weird potion brewing ingredients.
New drawers: top 4 fossils mod items; andesite, diorite, granite, and a few other stones, and 4 coin types upstairs at the saloon.
(1051) Added a new shack for Vanilla Food Pantry crystals, portions, bits. With drawers for the heaps of crystals I haven't found a use for yet. Over in EnderIO lab, I made recipes for wooden gears, stone gears, then the sand/clay/gravel mess that gets cooked into conduit binder, and my first 16 energy conduits. And a simple crafter, which does not have any kind of recipe papers of its own. Guess I have to upgrade it.
(1137) I did a big expansion second floor of the Brixton blacksmith, for future Calculator mod development. Then made an aquaculture fishing rod and did some fishin'. Caught a few fish, a message in a bottle ("Enlarge your fishing rod for only $19.95 gold. Guaranteed!" haha), and a lockbox (2 gunpowder), algae, leather boots, a stick, and two treasure chests (piranha, 4 iron, 8 oak logs).
(1154) Saw I had 54 levels, figured I should warp over to the Enchanting lounge to try for some fishing boosts. New enchanted books: Long Cast II (used on rod), XP Boost I, Speed Boost I, Power IV, Fire Prot III, Mining Boost I, Unbreaking I, Dodging II, Unenchanting (will remove all enchants from an item if added on an anvil), Smelting. I put Archaeologist I on my Efficiency IV pick while I was there.
(1210) Made the full set of Harvestcraft cookware for the saloon kitchen. Crafted a water trap, since the aquaculture fish split into 2 or 3 fish meat items, the trap bait is much more efficient. So, 8 bait added (from one fish: 2 meat, 6 string), 4 gone, got raw charr, eel, shrimp, bass. Harvestcraft fish, of course, since it's Pam's trap.

Last night, I did some major expansion of the Brixton area. Starting over by the Nomadic Tents workshop. I added a little building next to that for VFP cystels and bits. Then saw that the pinkly poo did indeed create one albino melon. So I figured out how those work. Harvest the melon with Fortune III for best results. It drops rainbow slices which all heal 5 hunger points and have potion effects. The stalk will only produce about 4 melons, after which you can break the stalk to get one seed, which I planted in a new garden plot, hoping to get a few more someday. Boy, that first stage of growth is almost invisibly small.
On the Pinkly Sheep side, I tried a few more pinkly poo but got no unusual plants, not even on or next to some dirty dirt near water, where the wiki said it should give some wild potatoes. I think I saw a few wild potatos from randomite drops, in my main drop chests, will have to go look.
A trip to the Aqua Cavern, hacking away at randomite ores, gave me 8 almond saplings, so I was able to add a few of those in the same part of Brixton. I put a second floor on the blacksmith shop, planning on putting the Calculator mod lab up there.
I added a few more elements to my periodic table wall, but of course getting those super-rare ingots like flerovium from randomite drops is pretty cheaty. However, the thought of building a fusion reactor and adding atomic numbers together to get each one is just nuts.
Tonight, I figured a long Nether expedition would be fun. Looking down from the perilous slab of land where the portal spawned, there was another of those Fossils mod Nether ships right below me, so I made my way down there. As I stepped aboard, I saw a little red something go down the stairs, but I figured it was a hell hound thing. Turned out to be a pyro creeper, but hey, the decks are obsidian and nether brick, so it didn't do much. Again, there's nothing in the chests I really needed, and I'm not about to trigger the Anu statue, but it's a lovely piece of worldbuilding. Just off one deck was an odd bit of nether brick fence, which was one of those lava surface little dungeons from Inventory Pets. Sure enough, I was greeted by a wither skeleton named Willie, then another, then a little wither dude. Hacked and grabbed the chest: two furnace pets, a variety of nuggets, and a wither skeleton skull from one of the Willies.
Scratch that skull. I was moving it in inventory when there was a blue screen crash. But I had a good exploration after that, through cinder storms in freaky fields of mushrooms and soul sand, with wither skeletons coming out of the blur. Came home with a crazy hoard of things, some I have never seen before, but I will have to look at those tomorrow.
