Overgrown: Blocks, recipes, chisel

4/29/2021 Overgrown-1-1

Quick visit before dinner.  Ran from Rustic Base to Brick Hall, discovered a cave with red and white cave crystals (Quark mod) in it.  Walled off Brick Hall and fought baddies through the night.  The Dynamic Surroundings mod had an option for "battle music" which I turned on.  It's a rockin' tune, no mistaking when a mob is nearby and headed your way.

So the Brick Hall area has two nearby Quark marble deposits and the tar pit.  Tons of gravel and a nearby taiga with coarse dirt and podzol.  I don't see much else over here.  250m east is Witch Town 4 with the dungeon house, so I ran down there and cleared level one, no special rooms.

I'm thinking that Brick Hall will be pretty hard to fix up and make useful, but it might be a good place to showcase all the Quark ores.  There are marble deposits nearby, and some of the other ores are pretty rare, only ever saw them in the Crown Cliffs dimension.  Let's check JEI for the list of these stones: jasper, limestone, marble, slate.

8 stone = 4 sturdy stone
8 iron = 24 iron plate
8 iron + water = 24 rusty iron plate
bricks + sand = sandy bricks
4 wheat = thatch
3 nether bricks + fire charge = 3 charred nether bricks
4 cactus green = 4 midori blocks
2 stone / 2 magma = 4 magma bricks
9 sugar cane = sugar cane block
4 (wood) planks = 4 carved (wood)
4 soul snad = soul sandstone
4 grass = turf block
5 glass + 4 iron = 4 framed glass
4 netherrack - netherwrought stone
3 wool + 2 string = 3 quilted wool

Plus brick versions, some polished, stairs, slabs, vertical planks, 9x makes pavement blocks.

Some other biome-specialized Quark stones: brimstone, cobbedstone, permafrost, elder prismarine, dark elder prismarine, elder sea lantern.

Meanwhile, from Project Vibrant Journeys:
wood: willow, mangrove, palm, redwood, fir, pine, aspen, maple, baobab, cottonwood, juniper, cherry blossom, jacaranda
stones: basalt, limestone, marble, siltstone
cracked sand, red cracked sand, mud,
ABA/BCB/ABA (clay block, sand, dirt) = 8 wet adobe

And which chisel blocks are available in this pack?
-A-/A-A/-A- wool = 32 cloud
ABA/B-B/ABA (stone, iron) = 32 factory blocks
AAA/ABA/AAA (stone, rs) = 8 future blocks
AAA/ABA/AAA (stone, quartz) = 8 laboratory blocks
AAA/ABA/AAA (stone, lava) = 8 lavastone
AAA/ABA/AAA (stone, cyan dye) = 8 temple blocks
AAA/ABA/AAA (stone, iron) = 32 tyrian
AAA/ABA/AAA (stone, pink dye) = 4 valentine blocks
AAA/ABA/AAA (stone, water) = 8 waterstone
AAA/ABA/AAA (paper, stick) = 32 paper walls
-A-/BBB/-A- (eye of ender, obsidian) = 16 voidstone
-A-/ABA/-A- (purpur, ender pearl) = 48 voidstone

Bored, no real direction.  Off exploring.  A deconstruction projectL one of those small pyramid temples, it was hanging off a cliff at a silly angle so it had to go: 7x64+53 stone bricks, 23 chiseled stone bricks, 69 stone brick stairs, 21 stone brick slabs, 5 gold blocks, 1 emerald block, 4 cauldrons, 2 anvils, 3 chests, 3 furnaces, crafting table, contents of chests.

There is a tower right next to that with redstone torches outside.  Looks like it's a DungeonTactics house, since the first chest is all DT stuff.  Probably full of booby traps.  Yup 3 TNT under the floor if I had come in the front door.

That reminds me -- I was going to go back to the Crown Cliffs and place a villager house at the crazy spawn point under the ocean.  But now the portal says I "may not travel yet".  WTF.  So back to Cavern dim to look for more books.  I still have not seen Dark Forest or Icy Mountains.  Wow, even in spectator mode those little libraries are hard to spot.  Good thing they have a torch inside.  Anyway, I found one mirage book to Dark Forest dimension.  Next library: no mirage books.  Next one: blue screen crash while breaking bookshelves.

Well, let's see where it puts me.  Not bad, just a few blocks back from where I was.  Two mirage books for Wide Desert again.  Just need Icy Mountains to complete the set.

I remembered that for the Mirage books to work, you have to be holding it in your hand.  That's what "you can't travel yet" was trying to tell me.  Duh.  Turns out the portal arrival point on the Crown Cliffs dimension was not underwater, just up on a narrow 3-wide sheer cliff, so I probably fell in the water before in the first chunk generated.

Yes, the /warp command works across dimensions as well.

Dark Forest dimension, here I come.   Umm ... if it will load.  Sitting here at y64 just black sky, black ground, horizon.  Crickets chirping.   Waiting to worldgen.  Oh, /warp and /home are not working.  Relog.  So, the Dark Forest dimension is actually a world with different surface biomes but totally lacking any kind of plant life.  And another crash when I flew up to see what was causing what looked like a huge shadow on the ground: Stack Overflow on getChunk.  Skip it.  I used NBTExplorer to set myself back to Dimension 0.

Quick scan of the Wide Desert dimension.  Yeah, there ARE mobs at night.  And the worldgen is pretty sparse: nothing but sand, sandstone all the way down to bedrock.  Black kauri trees and arid gardens, with tiny 3x3 sandstone shacks dotted around.  Bleak, a pretty harsh survival scenario.

Oddly, when I got back to Brixton, there were sand blocks inside the Academy and two-high flowers spawned all over the town, a few broke some chests and spilled their stuff all around.  I don't know if that was a gag from going through the portal, or a regen from editing the playerdata to get back to the Overworld, or if the pinkly sheep or peacocks did it.  Actually, the birds were not there last visit, either.  Like the whole area was bonemealed and passive mob spawned.  A bit annoying.  Just have to make sure no chests are on dirt blocks I guess.  I did a quick cleanup.  Calling it a night.

Hanging around Brixton.  Got 6 gold potatoes, forgot to use my Fortune II on them.  Trimming excess flowers, ans seeing at least three different kinds of birds hanging around.  Oh, my albino melon plant died, literally says "Dead Albino Melon Plant".  So I need to pinkly poo to get some more.

I did some mining in the andesite cave just outside of town and built a new andesite and limesteon brick of a building just behind the machinery lab for future mining down there.

A fun romp in Cavenia -- it didn't really register that I had a mirage book for that final dimension until I was rummaging through the chest next to the portal.  Holy smokes the mobs just keep coming, especially after killing a zombie when all their buddies come stomping over to get you.  Good thing I could fly up to an overhang and build a defensible base up there.  I saw two boss bars but no obvious candidate for the big bad guy.  The witches suck.  But I beat about 20 mobs and got about two full chests of stuff: lots of little loot bag type things (tool bag, food bag), ores, vanilla drops, broken equipment, Cavern stuff, and those annoying name tags.
