Overgrown 2026: Shades of the past

Well, this week was a 3-1/2 day migraine including a trip to the ER (no help at all), and I had to work as many hours as possible at my main job anyway. The eye problems started to clear up this morning, so maybe this round is done. But I had a lot of time in the dark to mentally tour my worlds and picture new things to build.
Looks like my MineColonies workers are broken again today. I started a build on the Town Hall block, and it was ignored. I started a new citizen hut, assigned Tyler, filled it with materials, and it was ignored, with no requests showing up at the builders hut either. And even though I have a second guy with a house, I can't assign any work to him. He sure won't help build anything.
So heck, I tp'd to Albertville. Since there were a few stacks of corn in the chest, I fiddled with the VFP bags and cartons. 8 food items around a bag = bag of food, 8 bags of food around a carton gives a carton of food. I did all that just to see if those cartons could be placed in the world. Yes, they can. And you can silk touch it to pick it up without breaking it down into corn again.
But as much as I like VFP adding a ton of variety, these recipes are inconsistent:
carton + 6X = carton of X ... for pumpkin pies or egg pies, 4X for cakes, 8X for everything else.
And what is a carton anyway?
AAA/BBB/AAA (carton panels, sticky paste) = 1 carton
AAA/BBB/AAA (paper, sticky paste) = 1 carton panel
So that's 36 paper for a carton? That's broken, even if the placed cartons are moderately cute.
And sticky paste? That's flour + bit o water for 8, or slimeball + bit o water for 16.
Looking at the Bounty Board, none of those quests are worth doing after the very early game. Maybe you can find one worth 10 gold nuggets, but most are 2-5, which is next to nothing.
I cleaned up some stuff in Albertville, made a big new area for the three buffalo. I went down into that sandstone dungeon, replacing the spiral stairs down the first three levels with ladders. So much faster, and the replacement is a breeze with the Ore Excavation, just tilde-mine and all the stairs are in my hand.
Since we will need a lot of glass for habitat enclosures around the Rustic Village, I stopped at the Wide Desert dimension for sand. First I saw that -A-/-B-/C-- (gunpowder, string, sand) = dynamite (VFP). So I made 20 of those. The portal didn't work at first, so I r-clicked it with the mirage book. DON'T DO THAT. It warns that it will regenerate the dimension, and it's irreversible. I didn't care in this case, since it's just a sandy waste. I quickly threw the dynamite and came away with about ten stacks of sand.
I hopped over to Rustic Village and did a quick gazeteer of this main settlement of mine.
Now over at the Brick Ruin (741 Front St), making a clipboard list of all seeds in the Fossils mod.

I wanted to start tonight by going to the old site of my original Brixton town (waypoint -3351 66 772), over by the Millenaire mob Byzantine village. I saw the old gazeteer text file while writing some new gazeteer files. But Millenaire started bogging down, and I ended up uninstalling it and dumping quite a few chunk files in the area. I was able to see a glimpse of the old town layout on the map, but now it's a rocky desert with an academmy and a sandstone ruined village (it has a trapdoor covering a chest full of Patchwork stuff). So, now that's a totally unknown are about 2000 blocks south of Colfax. Again, I swear this area used to be a colorful palette of Plants mod plants, but I see almost none of them now.
I ran out of quartz for my cloud pet but had a good run/hop back to Colfax, picking up an Animania ocelot on the way. Very hard critters to sneak up on.
From there I hopped back to Brixton II and decided on street names and addresses for all the buildings. It was a bit sad to see that extensive first settlement of mine reduced to just a ghost on the map.
