Overgrown 2026: MineColonies Off Again, All the Trees

I am starting off the night by disabling MineColonies again.  It just never does what I want it to, it's too labor intensive to supply all the parts, and it doesn't fit my style of playing.  I am leaving it in the pack disabled (and Millenaire is still there disabled as well), but I can't see myself trying to use it again.


Game loads fine.  I went to Rustic and spent some time flattening the ground around the big greenhouse, then installing inner doors to make airlocks so the birds don't get out when we go inside.  These big structures are naturally divided into 4 sections, so I went inside and made walls of quite clear glass to separate those sections.  Now there's one double-sized section and two singles.  I should split up that double, but we already did the landscaping with two small custom trees.  In my head, I figured we could further divide the sections lengthwise, but then the habitats will be a paltry 5x8 (the other half 6x8) space.

I did some flying around looking at the plains around Rustic.  There's the Brick Hall about 150m away, where I have recruited an archaeologist and starting setting up some vats to bring plant fossils back from extinction.  I got one big sigllaria tree last time, chopped it down to get a few stacks of leaves, 2-3 stacks of logs, and 18 more saplings.  So now there are a lot of saplings in that area that will fill in soon.

Back at Brixton II, I pictured setting up my usual array of Harvestcraft trees.

I setup a 6x8 orchard for all those Harvestcraft trees next to the big Welcome Center (Prefab) at Brixton II.  The spacing is 6x7 between trees.  But it turns out I have very few of these, and after flying around for a while, the Harvestcraft trees appear quite rare, probably due to the Open Terrain Generator loading custom trees in almost every biome.  I was able to find about 8 of them, mostly in fruit form in existing inventories.  I made saplings, tp'd back to Brixton II and starting planting them.

A whole lot more left to find.  Of course I can just buy them from the Market box, but where's the challenge in that?
