Overgrown 2026: Mine Colony and BrewCraft

260111 Overgrown 2026

We had a lot of fun over the weekend searching for Exotic Birds and Animania creatures we need for our collections.  We started a Bibliocraft clipboard of all the birds we needed, and were surprised to see we were missing over half of them.  THere are multiple colors of some of them, and some look different when they are young.  What a well-designed mod.  It just keep us questing for more.  Comically, I had forgotten that the Prefab mod had a big glass dome called the Greenhouse which is perfect for these bird sanctuaries.  We started getting rid of the farm blocks and making a self-contained ecosystem for them.  If one of them escapes it's a royal pain to catch them, since most of them are crazy fast flyers.  But it has been a fun romp.

A stone version of a desert temple??

I went back to Albertville to finish the last quest I need for the Totemic mod: bringing back the red cedar trees from extinction.

On one of our critter quests, we found a Fossil mod pyramid hanging off the edge of a cliff.  We found an Inventory Pets tree chest, broke it, and it exploding in our faces, scaring the crap out of Anne.  That is so rude.  I found this in the config file: B:"Disable TNT from Randomly Spawning from Tree Top Chests"=false.  Fixed it.

I briefly checked on the MineColony again, and the workers were unhappy but started working again for some reason.  I just need them to behave properly.  They wasted a ton of type creating a new Supply Camp when I already had one.  Then I tried adding a worker house, but I had to tweak it a few times to not wreck an existing building, but I'm not confident that it's not going to tear down a chunk of that house anyway.

Tonight I got fresh logs of the items, oredict, recipes and blocks dumped from CraftTweaker.  These are a goldmine of scanning through the list looking for things I didn't know about yet.  The recipes list is almost 3 megs ... as close to endless as a game can be without getting ridiculous.  Here's the kind of thing I needed to know: all the Exotic Birds eggs are in the itemEgg oredict, so we should be able to use them all in recipes.  Seeing how we have hundreds of them and can't turn off the egg drops.  We did discover that we can use the nests in the trees to store up to a stack of eggs per slot.  So we can store our overstock in trees.

Okay, the MineColony is so bugged I can't figure out what to do.  My one builder finished the Builder's Hut even though I already had the Supply Camp.  Then I placed a House, but got a message that I need a level 1 Builders Hut to continue ... which I have two of now.  But the builder's hut is back to 0% completed, like it tried to start over again.  I tried placing a guard tower but it turned into a City Hall block, and I can't select any of my other four workers to do any actual work.  Now I just want to disband my colony but I can't find that option.  I was able to use the Town Hall block to cancel my two current build requests, but the Town Hall wanted a level 1 builder's hut, so I started the builder's hut job again.  So Tyler just sits there asking for a shovel even though I have given him both a stone and iron shovel, and the other 3 citizens can't be added to any build.

Tyler accepted the shovel and told me to clear his inventory, then I swear he started taking apart the Builders Hut and building the Builders Hut again.  Yup, he's busting up everything.  This new Hut overlaps some of the original Supply Camp and the other Hut.

Enough of that, need some adventuring.  I tp'd to Peacock Point, where the last time I came out here, I fell into a hole in a temple and was surrounded by skeletons.  It turns out this is an odd structure.  Stairs lead down to a wooden platform with dispensers that spit out boats, and there is a small network of one-block deep flooded tunnels to explore, with chests full of Patchwork and Mega Loot stuff.

I went back to the saloon at Brixton to work on the Pam's BrewCraft recipes.  The distiller was a bit of a mystery, but apparently you have to put it above a heat source (I used a magma block), then put mixes in the top slot and bottles in the bottom two slots, and it quickly makes each brew.  I made the beach rum (log, water, 3 sugar cane) and handmade vodka (potato, 2 wheat, log, water) and hard apple cider (log, water, 3 apples).  I miss the Forestry workbench that could keep 8 recipes on hand, with inventory ready to just select the recipe and click to craft.  The closest I can find here is the Bibliocraft fancy workbench, where you can put a book in the left slot and click to write a recipe to it.  But it doesn't have an inventory to pull from, which sucks.  If you put a recipe book into the slot it does show you wnat you need, but will not load up the slots for you.

Here is the global Notes file I wrote up for Brewcraft a while ago:

For fun, now that I have the distiller, here are the mixes from BrewCraft:

log + water + 2 hops + wheat = prepared rennal gold mix

log + water + 2 hops + red dye (or wildberry) = prepared red beer mix

log + water + 2 hops + blue dye = prepared blue beer mix

log + water + 3 sugar cane = prepared beach rum mix

log + water + spice leaf + 2 sugar cane = prepared spiced rum mix

log + water + coconut (HC) + 2 sugar cane = prepared coconut rum mix

log + water + 2 potatoes + cherry = prepared cherry vodka mix

log + water + 3 potatoes = prepared total vodka mix

log + water + potatoes + 2 wheat = prepared handmade vodka mix

log + water + 3 apples = prepared hard apple cider mix

log + water + lemon + wheat + honey|sugar = prepared hard lemonade mix

log + water + lemon + 2 honey + netherwart = prepared honey mead mix

log + water + grape + raspberry + pomegranate = prepared pink moscato mix

log + water + 2 grapes + gold ingot = prepared P Max Riesling mix

log + water + 3 grapes = prepared river chardonnay mix

log + water + rice + melon + netherwart = prepared sake mix

log + water + 2 grapes + strawberry = prepared savannah zinfandel mix

log + water + 2 grapes + lily pad = prepared swamp merlot mix

log + water + 2 grapes + raspberry = prepared taiga pinot noir mix

log + water + juniperberry + spice leaf + total vodka = prepared ugly avocado gin mix

log + water + cinnamon + [grain] + gold nugget = prepared gold schlager mix

log + water + 2 barley + corn = prepared black hole whiskey mix

log + water + corn + wheat + rye + barley = prepared three point rye mix

log + water + chili pepper + spice leaf + peppercorn = prepared ghost pepper absinthe mix

log + water + orange + cinnamon + chili pepper + coffee beans + spice leaf = prepared borgia absinthe mix

log + water + 3 spice leaf = prepared malert mix

Sure enough, if you place the distiller over a heat source (torch works if standing straight up, otherwise use magma, lava or fire), put the mix in the top slot, empty bottles in the other two slots, and you quickly get two of the desired booze bottles.  It turns out to be very easy to run once you get the basics figured out.
