Overgrown-1-1: Cavern run & BrewCraft
3/25/2021 Overgrown-1-1
While sitting outside the vet in my car, waiting to hear how Sammy the cat is doing, I figured Brixton would be a good spot for a Nether portal, since I could then do some of the repair work using nether bricks. But after a half hour of mining, and finding some vast caverns, I did not see one block of obsidian. I did find a big cavern where two lava flows were pouring down into a hole in the bedrock, into the void. So, gee, watch where you step down there.
I warped back to Prefab home and setup a portal to the Huge Cavern dimension instead. Comically, I forgot to fix my diamond pick first, so I showed up with only 5 durability and a spare iron pick. But right on the cliff wall outside my spawn cave, there were 4 diamond blocks. So, new pickaxe. The spawn cave was inside a big pillar, with caves stretching all the way dwon from 63y to about 10y on all sides. I started hacking my way down there. I think I need aquamarine wfor the next portal. These cavern dimensions have a good range of andestic, diorite and granite, which is seriously missing in the Overworld. As I recall, it occurs in rare but large pockets in the Overworld.
The randomite ore is fun: so far, I got melodic alloy nugget, vines, a calcium ingot (Alchemistry), iron dust, trona crystals, an iron tie, 2 palladium ingots, beets, a bit o' slime, sesame seeds, crystalline slime ingot, cadmium, and chickpeas. Then, one of the rarest elements in the actual universe, a hassium ingot from Alchemistry. Hilarious, that's a superheavy element discovered in the last decade, and only a few atoms have ever been confirmed. But I have a whole bar of the stuff in my pocket. Nevermind how radioactive it probably is. Then a seaborgium ingot. Again, a superheavy element known only from traces a few years back. Cool.
So, the floor of the Huge Cavern dimension steps down from y = 25 to 15 to 5. Above 120, it gets cold, you see your breath. I did not see aquamarine at any level. Bags are all full, headed home.
Someone has a sense of humor. The blue roots (Quark mod) give you a buff called Blueberry, which turns you deep blue for 3 minutes. A Willy Wonka gag.
Somewhere along the way I also picked up ingots of promethium, terbium, and rubidium. Obviously from randomite ore.
I took some stacks of wood form my bonsai lineup and made 1x1 storage drawers: 12 oak, 31 birch, 21 spruce. I setup one drawer for each log type, one for apples, one for sticks, on for packed sticks, and 7 for the most common block types. That sure cleared a lot of space.
Here's a weird mission. I needed a blaze rod for the Pam's BrewCraft distiller, but I have not been to the Nether yet. VFP to the rescue: I made a bit measure and went down to the nearby abandoned mine. Lava bucket + 2 sand + bit measure = 16 bit o lava sand. 2 of those make a blaze rod. I raided two railcart chests while I was down there. THe usual assortment, but also two Lost Miner Sacks (Smart Hoppers mod) with: 4 torches, 4 SB&J sandwiches, 5 steaks, 4 TNT, 7 gold ore; the other with 16 torches, 2 nether gold ore, 1 lever, 2 iron ore, 5 silver ore, 1 natron. The best thing with these loot bags is that you can fill them up again.
I have 42 xp levels at this point.
For fun, now that I have the distiller, here are the mixes from BrewCraft:
log + water + 2 hops + wheat = prepared rennal gold mix
log + water + 2 hops + red dye (or wildberry) = prepared red beer mix
log + water + 2 hops + blue dye = prepared blue beer mix
log + water + 3 sugar cane = prepared beach rum mix
log + water + spice leaf + 2 sugar cane = prepared spiced rum mix
log + water + coconut (HC) + 2 sugar cane = prepared coconut rum mix
log + water + 2 potatoes + cherry = prepared cherry vodka mix
log + water + 3 potatoes = prepared total vodka mix
log + water + potatoes + 2 wheat = prepared handmade vodka mix
log + water + 3 apples = prepared hard apple cider mix
log + water + lemon + wheat + honey|sugar = prepared hard lemonade mix
log + water + lemon + 2 honey + netherwart = prepared honey mead mix
log + water + grape + raspberry + pomegranate = prepared pink moscato mix
log + water + 2 grapes + gold ingot = prepared P Max Riesling mix
log + water + 3 grapes = prepared river chardonnay mix
log + water + rice + melon + netherwart = prepared sake mix
log + water + 2 grapes + strawberry = prepared savannah zinfandel mix
log + water + 2 grapes + lily pad = prepared swamp merlot mix
log + water + 2 grapes + raspberry = prepared taiga pinot noir mix
log + water + juniperberry + spice leaf + total vodka = prepared ugly avocado gin mix
log + water + cinnamon + [grain] + gold nugget = prepared gold schlager mix
log + water + 2 barley + corn = prepared black hole whiskey mix
log + water + corn + wheat + rye + barley = prepared three point rye mix
log + water + chili pepper + spice leaf + peppercorn = prepared ghost pepper absinthe mix
log + water + orange + cinnamon + chili pepper + coffee beans + spice leaf = prepared borgia absinthe mix
log + water + 3 spice leaf = prepared malert mix
Sure enough, if you place the distiller over a heat source (torch works if standing straight up, otherwise use magma, lava or fire), put the mix in the top slot, empty bottles in the other two slots, and you quickly get two of the desired booze bottles. It turns out to be very easy to run once you get the basics figured out.
