Quickhaven 4/19 to 4/21

A few more sessions I think you'll find interesting.  There's soooooo muc to do now, it's almost nuts!

4/19 session

NIGHT session: had a fun Nether run with Rutt, too laggy for me to fight much, but I helped shoot down a few ghasts.  Collected one ghast tear at very edge of huge drop, a fireball just missed me, would have sent me down into lava.  Rutt had fun with ores, until he hit a Nether Ore and the piggie went nuts.  Funny, two pigmen were in my little fort at first but I patiently waited till they were in corners and surrounded them with cobble walls - no longer a threat.  Rutt ran across the field and got 59 glowstone dust, some ores.

After he glitched out, I extended the main tunnel ALL the way to the 2nd village ... the tunnel is mostly 3-wide, mostly done by mining turtle, and now runs from +750z to -200z, almost 1,000 blocks long.  Now it's a quick 4-minute safe run to this new village, which is in autumn woods and seems to be deserted.  Along the way, I left chests about every 300 blocks for my overloads, and came back with 43 obsidian, ores (26 Al, 27 bauxite, 60 Fe, 6 cinnabar, 57 tin, 37 copper), 64+48 coal, 14 emeralds, 7 rubies.

Made laser, electrical engine, assembly table, setup under IC2 lab.  Took some fiddling, used up all my (7) diamonds, but it does slowly charge up and make stuff.  Made 8 green wires, redstone chipset, redstone iron chipset.

4/20

Tried to go back to Nether and build up my forts, but immediately attacked by pigmen.  I really need to get down there and put a roof over the portal ... not too low down, or MC may decide the portal is unusable and spawn it elsewhere.  But being open at the top is just asking for trouble.  The rest of my facility is secure, with walls and gates to keep the buggers out.

IC2 lab: made 2nd electrical engine, rearranged conductive pipes & laser.  Making chipsets to substitute for future electronic circuits, the circuits are much faster to build, but take all that copper wire.  Let this thing run for a while, build up a supply.  Grab 30 cans of oil, generator up top is stocked up -- looks like its capacity is 10 buckets.

Did a quick run below house, planning to hunt for diamonds.  Heard slimes, spent a while trying to find the darn things.  Even with them on the radar they could be 10-12 blocks up or down.  Dug up to one, and it was in a section of tunnel I thought I had cleared.  Dug down to another, jumbo-sized guy stuck in an abandoned mineshaft over a bunch of deep intersecting pits.  Dozens of mobs on radar, ran down there, hacked away and got the heck out.  Must have grabbed at least the 6 more slimeballs I needed, but then had connection problems and haven't been able to get back on.

Okay, logged in.  11 slimeballs.  Woo hoo, just need some more blaze powder from those little flowers and I'll have my blast furnace up & running.  Bit of a hunt, but I did get the blaze powder I needed, built the blast furnace on roof of my railcraft lab ... from underneath there are 4 blocks with lava-glow, didn't expect that.  First batch of steel running.  I replanted some of those redwood saplings Rutt put out in the desert -- they need to be 2x2 batches of saplings to grow.  Poof.  3 big-ass trees already.  Paved over some creeper blasts in the desert with dirt, my usual slow but silly terraforming process.

Made a ruby pickaxe, ran to town to enchant it: 20 levels, got Silk Touch I, Efficiency III, Unbreaking III.  that's valuable enough that I will burn through cheap picks and use it only on the good stuff.  Time to go hunting!  ;-)

Later, 22:30 - Mining run with mining turtle and silk touch pick ... ores: 4 blue xy, 9 red xy, 4 ruby, 17 redstone, 75 coal, 1 cinnabar, 2 uranium, 19 iron, 12 silver, 5 lead, 6 Al, 5 gold, 4 monazit, 6 lapis, 2 quartz.  Score!

Oh well, coal ore isn't nearly as productive as it used to be.  I remember getting 2-3 coal per block in pulverizer or rock crusher, now it's one coal, or (at best) 2 coal dust in macerator, or in rock crusher caol with 10% of thorium.  Grr.  Guess I'll wait till I have a Fortune-enchanted tool and smash em.

Redstone ore is still good: x8 in pulverizer.  Quartz ore?  10 quartz dust in pulverizer or macerator, and no other recipes.  Ruby ore leads to some weird mineral dusts in GregTech, including Almandine, Pyrope and Spessartine.  Probably spent an hour going over recipes.  Lots of neat stuff ... if I can ever the darn machines to make them!  Need diamonds to make a macerator now, grr.

Nether run: sealed up the ceiling already, added gates at all possible entry points.  Pigmen were still in obnoxious mode.  I gave them a while to calm down.  Tested to see if mining nether ores with silk touch set them off or not -- yes it does.  I guess they only allow the mining laser on their ores.

Other mining runs, found 3 diamonds.  Decorated doorway of IC2 lab with red xy ore blocks.  Made 2 adv circuits and one macerator (finally!), all out of diamonds again.  Used minium stone for 8 Au to 2 Diamond.  Put 32 coal ore in macerator -> 64 coal dust, compressed a diamond, gave me an industrial diamond instead.  Already had 3 coalballs, so rest went into my first 3 carbon plates.  Put barrels in unfinished blutricity lab for redstone & bluestone (nikolite).  Done.

4/21

11:40 - Started working on new Liquids lab.  Made 4 pneumatic servos, 4 machine frames, pulv 20 redstone ore (no bonus glowstone dust) and run 16 iron & 6 gold dust in Ind.smelter while working; made Aqueous Accumulator (will be building new workshop over water, so this will pull up free water) and Liquid Transposer.  Upgraded 2 wooden chests in house to Iron, this no longer crashes me out of the server like in Tekkit days.  Stocked up my piston-crafting table (64 redstone, 12 iron, etc), made 4 pistons, next few batches will just have to add wood.  Made electrical engine.  Planning for the new buildings to connect to MFE on IC2 lab roof, time to start running powerlines soon ... not sure why I enjoy power lines so much.

Also planning a nether lab in the direction of the nether portal.  12:02.  Quick break, then finish my Igneous Extruder.  6 gold -> 24 gold wire, doubel insulate.  Need a lot of stuff for this build, but I will soon have an endless supply of lava (from netherrack), stone, obsidian.  Made LV Transformer (LVX), so all parts are now ready.  grab 2 stacks of cobble to frame the new building.  12:46 - building framed, sandstone floors & marble brick ceiling, gold wire from MFE to LVX on roof, to Electrical Engine to conductive pipes.  Machines setup inside, Aqueous Accumulator down in water below.  Just need my Magma Crucible to start melting things.  Break time.

Afternoon - Added Magma Crucible, first batches of Stone underway, when lava side fills up I run a few obsidian.  Extended by territory out over water about another 8x20, toward nether portal.  15:46 - built crude nether lab out on a platform out there ... straight out from town to nether building (burning netherrack on roof), hang a left to link to the nether portal platform.

Rutt was on briefly, showed him the blast furnace (for public to play with).  Got several stacks of stone + 12 obsidian from Extruder.  Ran around, did some facelifts to a few buildings.  Goodbye boring cobble.

22:52 - Mining run with just the silk touch pick, got 22 slimeballs, xy ores (9 light), shards (2 air, 8 fire, 3 earth), ores (64+9 coal, 3 sapphire, 2 cinnabar, 6 galena, 3 ruby, 10 Al, 5 Pb, 3 lapis, 6 grn sapphire, 17 redstone, 2 U, 2 Au, 12 nikolite, 2 tungsten) and 4x64 stone.

23:18 - harvest one big fir tree, now in the middle of harvesting one redwood tree, night falls, still haflway up - a safe place to stop & read recipes.  In older FTB BETA modpack, redwood logs and leaves were a dead end, no planks or plantballs.  That has been fixed.  Redwood: got 3x64+36 logs and 5x64+12 leaves (41 plantballs) and 42 saplings (COMPRESSOR gives 10 compressed plantballs), ran 36 logs in sawmill = 64x3+24 planks & 36 sawdust (8 charcoal).

23:46 - Make a fermenter, put in liquid lab for making biomass, fed from aqueous accumulator below.  Very slow, though.

Break.  00:50 - make 2 generators, and electric wrench for lossless mode ... upgrade geothermal generator to thermal generator, now takes lave cans|etc, holds 1 bucket at a time, returns empty containers, outputs 32 EU/t, which can replenish MFE even with 3 electric engines running.  Ran to village to borrow some red dye, built a bulletin board in village square and left 12 signs in chest at base for folks to contribute notes.  Made red pipe wire, then 2 iron AND gates (very slow with just 2 engines and one laser).  Set out blueprints for some common items: pistons, redstone engines at side of my HQ, and RE battery, generator, electronic circuit in IC2 lab.

01:00 - IC2 lab: make 8 energy crystals (w ruby core), then 2 MFEs.  Working toward MFSU, but it needs an advanced circuir (got one), MFE (got one) and advanced machine block (need one more carbon plate for that), 6 lapotron xtals (which each need 2 circuits (which each need 6 insulated copper wire), an energy crystal and 6 lapis).

01:08 - chop my 6 little rubber trees & replant.  Got 28 rubber drops, 8 spare saplings, 28 rubber wood.  To Thermal lab, run logs through sawmill (64+48 jungle wood planks, 7 sticky resin), cook rubber drops (28 rubber mats), run 30 copper dust, pulverize some cobble for sand for ind smelter.  IC2 lab: run resin thru extractor (21 rubber), make 36 Ins.Cu wire, 6 electronic circuits, then 2 lapotron xtals, running more iron AND gates dowwstairs but at 40,000 MJ each that's no real savings.  grab 4 rubies, 32 redstone, make 4 energy crystals.

01:30 - Bust up outdoor tank #2 and much of the pipeline back to tank #1 - no more oil out there.  Rebuild at bottom of stairs, start pumping in lava from surrounding areas.  02:00 - Done with 3x3 tank down at depth 12 (in basin of original lava pool, now dried up), thru walls overhead to first pool of lava.  Pumping now.  Run to surface, stash extra materials, but leave waterproof pipes in chest down below.  Check Fermenter, 5 cans full of biomass, make side gate for quick access to sugar cane at edge of sea.  IC2 lab: check fuel supplies on roof - lava gone, 10 cans of oil left.  Grab the empties, head down to lava tank -- first little pool is dry, 20 cans of lava, put in thermal Generator, MFE was down to 227K, but I had left the two engines running to laser over assembly table (duh), that last iron AND gate cost a bundle.  Run to get 13 cans of oil for semifluid gen.  02:13 MFE at 367K.  Macerate 16 coal, make 2 carbon plate.  02:21 - Make two more semifluid generators - can now run oil in one, creosote in another and biomass in the third.  All empty cans are returned, so it's a pretty stable power supply.  MFE at 600K.

Call it a night.
