Overgrown 2026: Big Excavation, Clearing the Nether Level
260223 Overgrown 2026
I chipped away at the Roguelike Dungeon excavation, and got one wing of the first floor exposed to daylight, with the firework launcher tubes adjacent to the hallway. This filled a few storage drawers with dirt & cobble of course. I should probably bring mechanical crafters to compress all that junk as it is removed from around the building. I hope this is far enough from MineColony that the huge exposed pit does not cause lag.
The trawl station has not picked up any new items since I switched it to book/library mode.
I made the Mega Loot tool table (diamond, anvil, 3 blocks of iron) and put it down in the dungeon Smelting Room. You can break the Mega Loot items down into shards and then use those shards to add upgrades or create more Mega Loot cases. There are two other tables, one to choose the skin of a Mega Loot tool from the big library provided, and I remember what the other one is for.
Not much else. The big excavations always take a lot of time. Short trip tonight.

Short night with headache last night, but I was able to clear two more wings of that Roguelike Dungeon -- just the top floor, anyway. I took a quick detour to Brixton to make a stack of storage drawers and a half stack of various upgrades, then back at the tower it was a matter of vein-mining, filling the gold backpack, flying back to drop off the blocks, and using anvil pet to repair the tools. And, oddly, I ate almost a stack of apples, because I guess all the imaginary work made me extra hungry. A few times, I took 9 stacks of dirt, cobble, or stone and made compressed blocks to save space.
Nothing exciting there.
After the horrible day at work where I at one point had to rage quit out of a Jira ticket because everyone was just cross-posting confusing updates with no clue which objects were being discussed, I just want to punch zombies tonight. Maybe I should clear the last two floors of the dungeon under MineColony? Maybe by then the trawl station will have caught something again? I think I have a stick in the mode selector space, so it should be in "scavenger mode." I still have no idea how such a huge and solid and fun sets of mods like Vanilla Food Pantry + Pinkly Sheep + Smart Hoppers is almost completely ignored by the world: no videos, no fan wikis, it's like they never happened at all. But the modder "Wabbit0101" did a heck of a job with it all, as part of his big Hoardercraft project/modpack.
The dungeon at MineColony (formerly "plains dungeon"): level 1, 2, 3 were cleared a while ago. It gets a bit sketchy below that, as I recall. Level 4 starts with some walled-off dark halls and a silverfish problem. I have since learned where those buggers come from in this design, so I shut that down right away. I cleared the one-room mausoleum. Much easier now that I can hover up out of reach of zombies (but not arrows) and bust through the quartz blocks and spawners in just a minute or two and then mop up the rest. The only other thing on this level is four of those long water rooms, one with some frogs living in the pool.
The bottom Nether level is always a bit too much. I fought back in all three hallways -- 4 spawners each -- back to the main rooms, which are big chambers full of mobs, and the inevitable big chamber with the hidden blaze spawners. I fell in lava, got annoyed, and tp'd back to the surface. The trawl station has still not caught anything.
Except, while I was typing that paragraph, the crate now has 6 slots filled. Hmm. 21:20, 14 slots used. I made a quick flight of stairs up to the watch tower on the hill. 21:33, 17 slots used, first number is down to 0. I thought that means you add a new trawl netting, but that did nothing. I made 4 more trawl crates while I was at it. Nothing, still "0:3074." Wiki says the second number is the number of casts before the netting needs to be replaced. Maybe the first number is bait? Let me grab some more worms from my farm back in Brixton. Yes, I added a mass of worms, now it's "500:3074".
I tp'd around to set a few more warp pages, but have to go make more next time. I started making all the books from DungeonTactics upstairs in the spruce house at MineColony. The recipes are a book plus an item:
rotten flesh -> DT dungeonpedia
sharp stick (stick + flint) -> DT Weapons
bone -> DT Trinkets & Charms
red mushroom -> DT Magic & Alchemy
sugar -> DT Cauldron Recipes
wooden sword -> DT Unique Weapons
redstone -> DT Engineering
stone brick -> DT World
These are fun to read through, even though there are a lot of typos. From Dungeonpedia, the entry on Potion Fish: "Spilled potions of adventurers have to drain away somewhere. Sometimes that somewhere is a well of water, and sometimes that water has fish. Over the years ... let's just say a lot of people have died and these fish taste great."
The entry for Incidiberries: "Kind of like a persimmon if the juice was lava. Really tasty and really good for your health, if you are immune to fire. Enough juice from these can melt magma. * recommend you do this is a bucket * Combine seven of these with magma in a dry cauldron, and stir with a spoon to create lava. Add water to create obsidian." Fun stuff.
And for Golden Hearts? "If you can capture a heart and smother it in gold, it won't love you back, but you can still eat it. Combine a bottled heart with two gold nuggets and two glowstone dust in a dry cauldron and stir with a spoon to cerate a golden heart."
Good flavor text. I doubt I will try more than just a few of these. I don't generally do brewing or spells, but it's nice to know they're here if I get the urge to test more modded stuff.
22:21 - 22 slots used. I pulled out the trawl crate and another took its place. Got the twine back times two. Made two more crates, switched the trawler back to librarian mode.
Done for the night.
