Bedrock: Realism Craft - First Look
240626
I got home from work and this new pack was all over YouTube, being called "MineCraft 2.0". wattles barely got started, and ibxtoycat kept finding the same structures over and over. So I figured I should check it out for myself. There is a lot of moaning about $9.99. Yeah, I am also used to the thousands of free mods on Java edition. But I can get over it and try new things.
Purchase, Download, "Create This World". Simple enough...
Right off, I like the branches on the trees and the smaller bees & beehives. I'm very disappointed they they locked the cheats, so I can't even set the daytime or Show Coordinates. THere's no F3 in bedrock, so literally no way to know where I a or how to get to any base I try to make. I did find 30 iron and 16 coal on that first day. But I guess I have to play nomad mode and take most of my gear with me. I doubt I will ever see this starter cave again.
The "3-d tools" just look awful, and the swing of every tool is way off. Cheesy. But if you hold a torch you do get dynamic lighting, which so many players have been complaining about for years. So, a modder found a way to fix that, but the billion dollar company couldn't do it.
The armor icons are terrible, and when you hold a door in your hand it's bent for some reason. I got full iron armor though.
Okay, I was able to "Unlock All Settings" against the wishes of the world creator. My first cave is at 54, 100, 71 and I don't like fire spread, and I want to be able to "/time set day" once in a while. Let me do it my way.
326, 87, 252 = broken nether portal in little green Nether grove. My tools broke and I had to punch the zombie pig and some livestock and dig a hole because night was coming. So my second cache is at 372 67 210.
2246: took 45 minutes but I finally found a structure (ok the nether portal was also one), a little camp with a well in the middle. Interesting variety of flowers, animal variations, and pebbles you can pick up. I can swim like a speedboat but the squids blast me with ink.
142 426 gorgeous birch forest. Crashed when I tried to type this onte and go back to the game screen.
I don't really want to spend 100 hours here, I only have a half hour left tonight. I will fly around a bit and look for a structure I can setup a real base in.
Fell in snow, starting freezing, tpd back home. -305 75 587 a trading post and two pillager towers. 2258.
2306 - Okay, for that pillager tower, unless you get in there right away and break the spawner, they're going to stack up and chase you away.
I went back to the trading camp, then found a vertical mineshaft to explore. The abandoned mines down there are much better than vanilla, more detailed, but not nearly as long. This one crossed through a deep dripstone cave. Bring ladders so you can fill the gaps in the ladder to get back up to the surface.
2335: I went back and raided that first pillager tower. First, I let the two iron golems out, them snuck around and knocked the guys off their towers. Reasonable loot, but mobs keep spawning on top of the tower with th scaffolding, even though there's no space where a spawner could be hiding. I see what toycat was seeing: there are at least 6 more of those pillager towers in the area, and three vertical mineshafts, and two trading posts ... heavy duplication.
A fun first look, though.
