VeeTech2: RFTools dimension trekking

I figured it would be a fun change of pace to check out some of those RFTools dimensions I made years ago.  I already have the dialer, transmitter and receiver with 11 dimensions listed.  I grabbed a dimension monitor and dialed Dim 2.

Dim 2 was just the stone brick world.  Regular terrain but all blocks are stone brick.

Dim 3 seemed normal at first, but there are round craters evenly spaced, lined with gravel.  And from the looks of it, no ore generating down below.

Dim 4 was fun.  So far each Dim has had a proper building with return teleporters, powered by coal generators.  So I built proper safe bases each time.  This dim looked like just boring snow plans at first, but full of mobs.  It would be a good place to find fluid cows.   My old "sea floor base" gave me the idea to take out squid pet and look around.  It was a vast cave realm down there, with ores everywhere.  A lot like the Cavern mod water world, but without guardians to wreck the fun.  Plenty of squids and ores, including a Dimensional Shard ore with no uses -- but you can break it forr dimensional shards used in a variety of RFTools machines.  The power monitor showed the Dim at 7MRF and slowly falling by about 100 RF per second.  But I had plenty of time to fill up my bags with ores.  There was even a lush cave down at the bottom of the ocean, half flooded, home to mobs as one of the only places they could possibly spawn down there.  Fun one.

I went to my Highway Base to drop off the ores for processing.  Grabbed a stack of coal blocks and tp'd back to Dim 4.  Added the coal to the generator but had a power failure death trying to tp home.  That makes no sense, if anything, I was adding power to the system.  Meh.  No real harm done with KeepInventory on -- I just woke up in my original base in the middle of the city and flew back to try Dim 5.

Dim 5 was a mostly void dimension, night time.  There was an oversized slime island nearby crawling with mobs.  Didn't want to stick around.

Dim 6 was the island of floating sphere islands, made of dirt and chiseled stone, inhabited by magma cubes and silverfish, with rivers of molten electrum.  Strange place, one of my favorite RF dims, except that all the spheres are full of water.  It would have been fun to build a town on the inside of one, but the clock is always ticking as the power trickles down.

Wow, Dim 7 is an amazing world of dark forests and vast cliffs going up to 256y.  It was fun throwing glowballs around and lighting up some of the massive spaces.  I had about 10 waypoints already and found a new dimension lab.  There was a permanent Haste effect, the sun and moon were stuck just above opposite horizons, and all regular mobs and ores.  Power was 27KRF and dropping by about 500 per second, probably a few hours of safe time.

Dim 8 was an endless sea about two blocks thick, with void beneath.  Large ice floes and an occasional island of dirt.  Not much to do here.  32MRF of power, dropping about 300RF/sec.  Okay, it's not really void down there, as the dim labs stick out on the map, and sit on pillars about 100 blocks tall, down through the void particles.  Scary and useless.

Dim 9 was another Endless City dimension, but all stone and dirt is replaced by dark prismarine.  Lots of mobs.  18MRF dropping at 6000RF/second.

Dim 10 was floating dirt islands, red sun, mooshrooms.  One small patch had a skeleton, nearby was a witch hut on 100-block-high stilts over the void.  Creepy.  Not useful.  Brough two mooshrooms home.

Dim 11 was scary.  Darkness, rain, blasts of lightning.  Some infernal mob was pushing and pulling me.  The world was a vast maze of stone bricks walls about 100 blocks high.  Hundreds of mobs.  No thanks.  Almost got blown off the little platform with my teleporter home.

I started trying to build a new dimension.  It's in the dimension builder but only at about 13%.  While that was running, I tried going back to Dim 4 but "died from a collapsing world".  Sure enough, when I finally found my Dim 4 item, it has a power of 0.  So I put that in the dimension builder and can see it charging up.  Will put the other one back in there when done with my visit.

Now that I found my dimension tabs, I can say their actual maintenance cost is:

Dim 2 = 41 RF/tick

Dim 3 = 370

Dim 4 = 10 ... terrain type is officially FLOODED_CAVERN.

Dim 5 = 13

Dim 6 = 383

Dim 7 = 18

Dim 8 = 30

Dim 9 = 572

Dim 10 = 183

Dim 11 = 21

and the one I'm making has a creation cost of 86400 RF/tick and maintenance cost of 35011 RF/t, which is insane.  But I did pick inferium coal blocks and end diamond ore blocks, so that's my fault.  Might be good for a quick visit someday.

Anyway, my Dim 4 tab is back up to 7MRF, let's go be a squid miner again.  Whee.  It's a fun, peaceful world.  For some reason, when I break coal ore with a normal pick, I get coal, sulfur and beryllium dust.  That's odd.

I saw two blizzes spawn down in that ocean, one was an infernal mob but both died in the water before they could be much of a threat.  I came back to base with a bag and a half of goods.  Then went down under the main city and mined 6 stacks of obsidian with my trusty mining drill and water bucket.

I'm stocked up on everything, stacks and stacks of blocks of stuff.  But it's still fun to just go exploring, digging, jetpacking around the world, squidpetting and exploring.
