VeeTech2: Advanced Rocketry Lift-Off and Web Fail

 251216 VeeTech2

I spent over an hour being drilled at the dentist today.  For sanity, I played this Minecraft world in my head.  I wanted to get some more upper-tier stuff crafted and then give myself some of the last parts I need to get to the Moon.  I have never been in space in any of my worlds -- the one world where I had Galacticraft, the launch button simply failed.  I'm not going to enjoy this more just because I spent four more hours screwing with things.

I grabbed some of the draconium dust from my End expedition, ran it with sand in the induction smelter to double it, then made 16 draconic cores.  That's

ABA/BCB/ABA (draconium, gold, diamond).

I wanted to make the draconic bow, but it needs awakened draconium which I think means regenerating end dragons.  But I should be able to get to the bow of the wyvern ...

-A-/BCB/-D- (wyvern core, draconium, bow, wyvern energy core) = bow of the wyvern, and the parts are ...

ABA/BCB/ABA (Dr, Dr core, nether star) = wyvern core

ABA/BCB/ABA (Dr, RS block, Dr core) = wyvern energy core

I made one of each of those (with my only nether star) and the Draconic generator while I was at it.  I'm a long way from having MysticAg tier 6 nether star seeds and would need nether stars to make the seeds.  Ha, you can make nether stars by smelting octuple compressed netherrack ... 9^8 = 43 million netherrack to get one of those.  Or from wither bees, or a 0.01% chance of a drop in the Calculator mod analyzing chamber.  The end bugs have been dropping end crystals, so maybe I can uncraft some of those?  The uncrafting grinder says NO.

Got the wyvern bow.  Holds 4MRF but doesn't have the Infinity that my old bow had.  So I used the EnderIO enchanter with ender pearl and 15 lapis with 17 levels each to make two Infinity books.

Btw, that End trip netted 2 stacks of redstone blocks, almost 7 stacks of lapis blocks, 56 diamond blocks and 48 emerald blocks, plus all the little bonus bits like 68 cinnabar.

Back to the space race, I mean "endless grind to get off this rock".  I made 4 low pressure tanks, added two to the space suit chestplate in the suit workstation, then had to put 2000 units of oxygen in a gas charge pad, put on the space suit chestplate and walk onto the charge pad to fill up ... slowly.  Made a jetpack, added that to the chestplate, then there is only one slot left for one tank of H2.  Added padded boots to the boots to eliminate fall damage.  Don't care about bionic legs.  For the helmet, I gave myself the hover upgrade, flight speed upgrade, atmosphere analyzer and anti-fog visor, just to get this slog over with.  Reference page.

Made the wrong tanks for my rocket.  You want the liquid fuel tank, not the pressurized tank.  See this official AR guide.

But no matter what I do, the scanner says not enough fuel capacity, even with 5 tanks for one engine.  But two engines, 5 tanks, guidance computer and seat scanned okay.

Then the rocket would not fuel.  You need a fueling station, not a rocket liquid loader.

Then I could not choose a destination, it was just N/A.  Sneak-click the rocket, click the guidance computer, add a planet id chip (unassigned).  Now, heck, MAYBE.  Sneak-click the rocket, choose "Choose Dest" and scroll out on the planet map to find Luna at the top right.  Click it, then select.  Now the rocket says "Destination: Luna".

10:50PM: Yes, we got liftoff.  The altitude (top left) meter crawled up to the top, then the hard drive spun for a while.  Hopefully loading the new dimension, not crashing.  AT least I got a screen shot of the liftoff over the endless city.  Says I have almost no fuel left, so that's nice.

For reference, Advanced Rocketry saves its dimensions here:

C:\MultiMC\instances\VeeTech2\minecraft\saves\v1_0\advRocketry

I see folders for DIM99 and DIM1040 were just created.  DIM1040 has a new /region subfolder for dimension data.  But the hard drive is still having a fit.

After 7 full minutes I get the "Press Spacebar to Descend" message.  I just missed landing on a slime island, by maybe one block.  So it was raining slimeballs down on me the whole time I was there -- the slimes are born on the island and die right away due to lack of air.  Aside form the glow of wintry hives, it was just dark.  Three layers of a lunar soil then all the usual stones and ores below.  I didn't come all this way just to mine diorite.  I ran and bounced in the low gravity.  The jetpack would not start even after I changed the control key.  I ran about a 200-400 block circle and found nothing.  Got back on the rocket and got stuck about 40 blocks off the ground trying to get home.  Got out, stood on top, cheated myself another 64 units of fuel, refueled, spacebar did nothing.  Guess I have to log out and try again.

Still stuck.  Fuel goes down to zero, altitude never goes up.

After a half hour, I finally bailed out.  Went to creative mode so I could actually move.  Looks like the ship hit a spider web zapped at me by an infernal slime as it fell to its doom.

I was worried that there was no way to get home from this mess at all, being completely stuck in non-Overworld dimension.  But RFTools to the rescue.  I cheated myself a transmitter and a dialing device and an EnderIO capacitor bank, dialed home and made it home safely.  I only thought of that because one of the guys in the videos used the RFTools teleports to get to and from their space station quickly.

Wow.  That was buggy as hell.  I'm very disappointed.  But maybe it really was the random-ass spider web that stopped the ship?

No worries.  There are still hundreds of other things to do is this modpack.  I love the endless problem solving.  Never had to get out of this situation before.  ;-)
