Jan 2025: Overgrowth 1.1: crafting randomite?

250125: Overgrowth 1.1

I got oriented in Benton (V2) and found that the best place to run a path to the big chasm is right back along the road I just made yesterday, and it comes down stairs right at the tip of the chasm in a lush cave.  Nice.

Then I ran back to Vee City, which is not that far.  I spent some time in the main lab.  Made a bunch of AA components, leading to two double crushers.  And downstairs, I made two Extra utilities furnace generators to power them.  Each village should be producing things, and since they all have mines, they should have at least a simple set of crusher/generator.

While I was under the main lab, I saw a worktable setup in one corner to make randomite ore.  yes, it can be made.  5 iron ore + 4 coal makes 4 unstable powder.  Them 4 more iron ore + 4 unstable powder + coal = 1 randomite ore.  Seems a bit expensive.  I made two and got just one ender pearl and 9 redstone.  Bleah.  It costs 9 iron ore and 5 coal.

I ducked into the Prefab lab to make a new Villager Houses maker so I can add waystations along these new roads, and saw a Starter House sitting there unused.  I ran upstairs to repair my items (my suto-smelt diamond shovel was down to almost nothing after making 2000+ blocks of road.  Oddly, it used none of my levels even though the repair said 22 levels and 27 levels.

I added some more walls to the east side of Vee City, fought a bunch of slimes over there, explored a new pit, then flew back to Benton to set up the double crusher at the blacksmith house with a few chests and hoppers.

Then it was after 11pm, done for the night.  In my head I can see a hundred more things to do ...

250126: Overgrowth 1.1

Like usual, I was at Anne's friday & saturday night, and this machine was six miles away.  But I did spend some time (when I should have been sleeping) dreaming up new builds and new things to tinker with in this world.

Of course, I got stuck in Benton and never got to Hommlet where I planned to drop down a monster masher tower and convert it all to nether brick and dark/red blocks.  I catalogued the town and extended some roads and walls.  Explored a mine outside of town, dug a road through that hill to a river and dropped a small villager house there, the "boat house."

Running down the dirt path Stirling, I put down the starter house I made a few days ago (-485 65 -139) and it went the wrong direction, but after some clean up and walls, I ran the road up to one door and it continued out the other door from this pleasant oasis to where the tunnel under the slime-infested desert began.  A nice spot, full of palm trees, grassy areas and ponds.

While night rolls on and skeletons click and slimes bounce, let's see what's down this mineshaft that always generates with these Prefab mod starter houses.  A single chest at the bottom, with about 3 stacks of misc rocks and gems (8 diamonds, 1 ruby, 20 lapis) -- the shaft did not pass through any caves.  Solid walls.  So I added a second chest and busted out my 3x3 silk touch mining drill.  I soon made it to a lave lake with attached cave (at -92z).  Going east, I hit another lava pool at -546x.  I can see some mobs on the mini map over there.  Let's head east ... nothing as far as -449x.  How about south, behind the ladder?  I mined about 50 blocks, all solid ground with one or two mobs on radar.

Filled up that double chest.  Went ahead and made 64 compressed stone.  Made an iron chest, took it with me and half filled that, too.  My mining backpack (that I always forget I have) also filled up along the way.  I was going to recharge my mining drill but must have left my flux capacitor charging somewhere.

Anyway, one goal of the night was to drop down  that starter house far from any settlement, and this is as good a spot as any.

I was going to run across the desert and through more oases to get to Dundee but that will have to wait till tomorrow night.

I made a big list of things to do in this world at work.  As I was headed back from Benton to Stirling, my note said: "Drop some villager houses in the desert, call it Baker, and add the world's tallest thermometer".  Did it (-575 66 -415) -- at least two measly buildings, a wall, two fluid cows and the start of a mine.  The thermometer is a real world thing, by the way.  Google it.

Next I put a blacksmith shop in the oasis between two rivers, called it Yermo Camp.  It's a tiny space, barely 8-10 blocks around the building, but it has palm trees, galapagos flower and wild carrots.  Nearby: pistachios and tropical gardens.  Located at (-676 64 -472).

Almost back to Dundee, I put a small house at a bend in the road between two hills, where the oasis begins.  I called it Old Rhodonite Mine (because of the rhodonite deposit in the nearby cave) -- it's at (-740 66 -576).  Palm trees, tropical gardens, mango trees, cactus slimes.  There are a few more mine pits in the sand nearby, and a lush cave down the main cave.

From there it's a quick hop back to Dundee.  I cleaned up some stuff, blocked a spot where zombies came over the walls, harvested some crops.  I added a new pen for the Animania animals -- I never use them but they help liven up the place.  I switched one farm plot from "all the AA crops in a random mess" to just the flax and rice.

2152: I added a worktable at the Beekeper's house, because everyone needs a hobby.  "Jacob's famous wheat sprouts" = 6 wheat seeds & a bowl.  I wish the y would stack, but that would be O.P.  Oh, it also gives Health Boost for 00:30.

2305: I did make it to Hommlet, and raided a few clouds along the way.  I put down the monster masher -- there was a perfect spot where I had to build a narrow bridge across a chasm to the next hill over.  I made the 4 diamond spikes and added them, but I need to make a few vacuum chests back at Vee City and setup the rest of the grinder the way I like it.  I should bring back a few stacks of nether blocks, but honestly, the building is bigger than I remembered.  It will be a challenge to change to looke and feel of the place to match its name, and it's D&D legacy.
