10/12 FTB Unleashed - 45 levels to burn
I watched some videos in the background last night while on the computer. It sounds like there's a wisp spawner right under those creepy obdisian tote, platforms. Rather than getting my rump blasted or hacking up the place, I will try to dig up underneath one and whack the spawner. But I will try grabbing it with a force wrench first. I don't know if those can pick up spawners or not. Sounds like a dangerous trip.
First, I have 45 levels. Before I risk losing them I should really enchant some things. I had enough leather and obsidian to make an enchanting table. Books will take a while. Oh I had enough sugar cane & leather for 10 book cases. Of course I want my magic up on the temple hill, which is infested with wisps ... I can get into the big temple through the backdoor cliff stairs. Off I go. Of course it's night for extra challenge but I just had to lop a zombie off the cliff and run.
Planted 10 bookshelves + enchanting table, was able to enchant a new diamond pick with Unbreaking II. Everything else I wown is damaged, so, oops, not planned so well. Anyway, I can probably start diggin up under that platform from my first shack. Will try to calculate the coordinates real quick as I run by it. -166,185,+92. No wisps came out yet. Weird-ass metallic sounds under here, like someone tinkling in a tin can. (Sorry, modders, that's what it sounds like ;-) THen yeah, saw a yellow flamey bit, there was the spawner, nailed it. The obsidian platform should now be a safe bit of eye candy.
Might as well make a little hangout underneath - I busted thru the wall to daylight so I installed some windows. Topside, I still got zapped by a wisp, but I'm hoping that's one that already spawned and was just hanging around. With a little creative walling, I extended my first shack around to include the under-obsidian room as a back room. There better not be wisps in here when I come back, though in an enclosed space a few whacks with a sword should stop em. More tinkling. I see a wisp way down in the valley cruisin around. Guess I'll stand on the platform and tempt fate!
NO wisps, except the one down in the valley. Funny, I thought I nailed it with two arrows and it vanished, but it just passed into a missing chunk error. When I reloaded the game, the chunk filled in and it was almost on top of me. I ran back to town. I emptied the chest on that obsidian platform, wanted to use the heart to make a heart canister, but that takes 4 Al ingots, which can ONLY be made in that complex smeltery contraption. Yeah, maybe I'll build one of those eventually, looks like a real pain.
I added a small Smithy (armor, weapons, tools) at top of hill across from Berry House. Had a funny encounter with an ender tot who warped over then got stuck in a hole so I had to knock out a window to poke him in the eye. Momma ender came by, stood outside my gate/door and was no problem. I ran up my main road a ways and built the first safe house, simple cobble thing about 9x13 with some berry bushes outside and a chest with some food inside. As promised. I added some saguaros to the patch ot sand nearby. Ran home as it was getting dark. Funny I haven't felt like building a bed yet. Duh. Here goes ... nope, all cows out there, no sheep, no wool. Had enough cotton for 1 piece of wool. Bed later.
Right across the lake is a fun set of caves, spacious, looping up and around, open on the backside then overlooking my village. I walled off one big extra part, lit the rest. Could make a good storage depot someday. Got a spoils bag from a zombie: bronze leggings, 21 rail, 1 UU-Matter (!), apple, oblivion frame, single-use safari net (!), 5 knowledge fragments (!). Wow, nice batch of oddities.
While carting a bunch of magical doo-dads up to Temple Hill, I remembered where I had seen sheep -- all over the crags above the water, and in the jungle, so I got wool. Made a bed. For now I'll be sleeping in the Force Lab, that has the most space. Now that I've cracked some beehives I need a Bee Lab. It's never ending! While building out toward the water (west end of town) and extending the walls a bit, and supporting a bit of an overhang for more land, I heard zombies. Tunnelled and found a cave under town of course. Fought some zombies, got a spoils bag: 11 force gems, bronze helmet, ingots (3 Fe, 1 Au, 1 Thaumium), 2 knowledge fragments. Added a quick "Trees & Seeds" shack out there too, each new building starts with 2 iron chests, should last a while.
Last experiment of the night: I made a blacksmithing hammer then 64 iron hoops and a barrel. How much can it hold? Duh, I forgot to check the levels of creosote oil on my coke oven first, BUT it grabbed a bunch and says will generate 125K EU at 10 EU/t (Generator) or 2.0 MJ for 100,000 ticks (Biogas engine), so it sounds like it holds 10 buckets. Made another, yup, 10 buckets with easy one-click fill. I guess I should naturally leave the blacksmithing hammer and iron hoops in the Smithy.
22 coal coke done, now made 22 sugar charcoal, which I put back in the first slot to make sugar coke. It's nice that the fairly expensive coke oven can now do more things. Sugar coke and cactus coke end up with half to power of charcoal, which is pretty weak, but it IS another source of power from an item we often end up with too much of, plus the creosote can gen more power. Okay, the cactus/sugar recipes only make 0.03 creosote, so that's nothing. Weird, but still a low-power option.
Made a personal safe, dropped in IC2 lab for all my expensive goodies. Pulv/cooked 32 refined iron, 4 machine blocks for future IC2 work. Made 6 electronic circuits using the force ingot double recipe. Heck, made compressor and electric furnace and macerator, so my IC2 lab has the basics. I still like Thermal Expansion machines better, especially their configuration and auto output to pipes. But I can always run an extra batch here using alternate power supply.
Done for night.
