Potato World - April Fools
240621
I finally got to explore the April Fools potato build.
I quickly found a portal to the tater dimension, and it's a fun and wacky place to explore.
Large swaths of the land are cultivated with only occasional villages. The rest is just well groomed with endless potatoes to eat. There are floating globs of flotater blocks, and I finally found a cliff face of taterstone which did have some iron ore, so I got a helmet and chestplate and pickaxe. The hoe seems to cut the taterstone nicely. Gravtater is the equivalent of gravel. Potone looks like dirt.
I threw some eyes and did a quick spectator mode to find the bastion with the boss in it. It was not far from where a shipwreck was up against the edge of cliff topped with farmland, so I made the ship my base. So now I have plenty of iron but no fuel to smelt it. Trees are far between.
Oddly, when I opened a chest which used to have a piece of paper in it, it now has pieces that say "I think they know" and "Let's stay quiet".
I finally went into the bastion and fought the boss. I went through about 6 stacks of arrows and two bows, kept having to cheat in more. The boss summons mobs and gets a forcefield when his minions are active -- hitting him damages you, and knocking back one of his fireballs can be fatal. It starts off as a few husks, and few simple creatures, then two waves of about 6 piglins that took 6 to 8 arrows each, then about 8 plaguewhales that take 10 arrows each, then ghasts that scared the crap out of me but I built a little fortress wall to shoot from cover, then some giant blue guys that did nothing but soak up damage. All the while, the king spud changes names and gets smaller and more annoying.
Finally, some reflected fireball must have taken him out because the boss bar went away. I saw no drops, but it was a fun hour-plus boss fight. I should try it with better gear sometime...
